Default JPAY Mail Service in Pennsylvania

Has anyone used the mail service offered through the jpay website in PA? I want to see how it has worked for everybody before I use it. Thanks, Leo.

I do know that not all facilities accept it but for the ones that do I have heard nothing but positive remarks about it. Everyone really seems to like it and I am hoping that it is soon available in all PA facilities.

I use the JPay mail and I like it. The only thing that I don't like is that he sometimes doesn't get my e-mail the same day. They told me at the prison that if I send it in the morning, he would get it that same day, but that doesn't always happen. Other than that, it is great if you have something that you need to tell them and you know that you won't be talking to them on the phone or if you don't want to wait for your letter to get there thru the regular mail.

my husband is at camphill and i send him jpays all the time. Sometimes they get to him within 24hours, but sometimes they take 48 hours. Its still a great way to get news to him fast and assure he gets mail almost everyday. The only problem i have is that they won't deliver it on weekends just like regular mail. But thats the prison system....

Jpay is at www.jpay.com, you can send money, but I've got no clue what anyone's talking about sending a "letter" with it.

This may be dependent on facility- I've used JPay for a while and that option appears no where, but it's always only been to the one facility.

Nope. Only option I've ever had on there is to send money- nothing else.

I send money and letters quite often through JPAY it works well for me except it is expensive. You do not have to say where your loved one is if he is in a PA prison it is sent on to them. My son was in Camp Hill and has moved to Houtzdale and I just sent him a letter and it went through as far as I know Gracie

first go to jpay.com, set up an account , log in to your account, then right under the big red jpay you'll see my state, my money, my mail, my account. go under my mail and buy postage, then go to send mail and write your letter. its really quite simple. there may be some prisons in PA that don't accept them, but I know for a fact that camphill does.

Their location comes up after you put in their number.
I've used JPay for quite a while to send money, the fee is a little high, but it's much easier than getting cash out, buying a money order, etc.
But, there's no option on my account to send a letter.

I actually just emailed Jpay customer service about this a few days ago, because I couldn't find anywhere to click for mail. They said that if the institution your loved one is in doesn't have the service yet, the option won't show up. They also said everyone should have it within 6 months.

Thanks for checking! I figured it was depending on which facility.

Default jpay

Hi! I'm new to this site, this online thing. I was reading about jpay and signed up and there wasn't any tab for sending mail.
My husband is in SCI Waymart which is a state facility. He does not receive email. I think that is the difference. Federal prisons do.
Maybe I'm wrong but that is the only thing I can think of.
Thanks a bunch!

Grandma,
With the Jpay email thing, the inmates do not actually receive an email. Someone from the mailroom delivers a message to them. It's just a lot faster than sending snail mail. Unfortunately, they don't have the system set up at all the state prisons yet.

I emailed J Pay about this. Please find below the rsponse I got from them.

Dear Michelle,

Thank you for your patience.

The J-Mail feature is currently only available in a few of our facilities. If the option to "send mail" does not appear upon logging in, this means your inmate is in/ or has moved to a facility that does not yet offer the mail option. We expect the JMail feature to be available in all of our facilities within the next year, however, I do not yet have an exact date.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to respond to this email.

Thank you for contacting JPay and have a great day!
