Default Locations within the Prison?

Can someone tell me the differences between the areas of the prison?

For instance, my ol' man was in Z-206-U for 5 years and all of the sudden he has resently been relocated to FD 53-U. The Dorms???

Is it because of all the overcrowding?

How many yards are there? How many locations of the prison are there?

Thanks...

South Facility. The South Facility provides the complex with outside minimum custody workers. In addition, the facility offers academic, vocational and industrial assignments. The South Facility houses Level I inmates.

Central Facility. The Central Facility is a training and work-oriented facility that provides comprehensive academic, vocational, and industrial programs. The Central Facility houses Level II inmates and also includes the institution's Administrative Segregation Unit.

North Facility. The North Facility is a training and work-oriented facility that provides comprehensive academic, vocational and industrial programs. The North Facility houses Level III inmates.

Had anyone else out there been resently transfered from Central to North???

The south is the the yard where the guys with the lowest points are, the lowest security risk. the central yard is a level two where the middle security are and of course there is north, where most of them seem to be housed. my son is in north and has been there for a little over a year. I know its not a lot of info, but i'm no expert.

I think the letter stands for the wing and the # is the cell # and U or L means upper or lower bunk.I think its typical for them to get moved around a bit. The PO box will tell you what yard they are on.Im no expert but i think thats how it goes....

Robin you are not talking to yourself but sometimes you need to be more specific on what prison you are talking about. We have 2 prisons on the same grounds.
Now Benny is right about the security levels at CTF but I really wouldn't take that into consideration as to where he is housed. Each level and yard should hold the inmates with those points but it doesn't always happen. When my Hubby was first at CTF he was housed in North (Level3) and should have been in South (Level 1). We left and now are back and he is housed in Central (Level 2), points haven't changed but that is where he is at. When he was in North he was told that is was because of overcrowding.
As far as your post with what programs are at each facility... I have no clue... never heard of those programs but that's just me. JMK might have more info on all that.

Leo and Benny,

Thank you. That helped a lot!!

~

Papa Bear,

Thank you. He is at CTF Soledad, not Salinas. I have been there to viset before when he was in Central.

He has been relocated to North because of the overcrowding (I believe). Also, he just had an appeal and I have been waiting to see if he is getting out. But North is always on lockdown and therefore, I have no info on this side of the communication.

Do you guys know how long it takes to find out if an appeal has gone through???

There is a web site that you can register your email and they will contact you when anything happens on the case. I am having computer issues at the moment and can't retrieve the link. I will post it as soon as I can. Or maybe someone will come along and post it.
