Ok, I was starting to think I was missing it. Seems like sort of a big hole in the system, no? lol

I'll make a new account. Thanks for the reply!

Default Changes to V-PASS?

Is anyone else having a problem, or can someone make a suggestion?

For about two years, I have always made appointments through V-PASS two weeks in advance of the appointment I want to attend, without problems. I usually make the appointment on Sunday nights after 7:00 p.m. But starting a few weeks ago, the program wouldn't let me make an appointment two weeks ahead of time-the date I wanted did not even show up on the web site until a week before the date I wanted to visit. But when it did show up, at least I was able to make the appointment.

The next week, at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night, I again tried to make an appointment two weeks in advance. This time, the date came up but supposedly all visits were already taken--within 2 hours of becoming available. For the last 2 weeks, I tried to make an online appointment and have not been able to find availability. So, tomorrow, I will walk in.

Tonight, at 7:00 p.m., I again tried to make an appointment two weeks in advance. This time, it's not possible to make an appointment two weeks in advance-the only dates that come up are one week in advance. And of course, those are taken.

Is this happening to anyone else? I'm wondering if something is wrong with my software and/or how to fix the problem.

I've had that happen a couple of times and someone else I know was too and called the institution and they fixed the issue, so it is probably not your computer but the institution's computer issue.

The availability of appointments is based on the facility. Our last prison opened up two weeks of appointments at a time. The one we're at now, one week at a time. I do know that at our last facility, appointments would open at 8pm and and be gone by 8:05. It was so stressful!

There was maintenance done to VPASS on the 18th that may have shifted things a bit, as well, though based on a quick glance I don't see any difference. A few weeks ago the whole system took a nosedive and people were trying for 30 mins plus to get an appointment. I think this prompted a lot of complaints and a review of the platform. Hopefully it will get better.

I have good news to report. The reason I could not get an appointment yesterday for 2 weeks in advance is that yesterday was Saturday, not Sunday! I know they had recently been performing maintenance on the site, so after realizing my error (sorry for posting), I was hopeful that the previous problems were fixed. I got online at 7:01 p.m.tonight and was able to get an appointment two weeks from now. The previous problems were real and it looks like the site maintenance is working. I hope it is working for everyone else, too. Those walk-ins are time-consuming!

Default Will vpass allow you to schedule a visit if you are not approved?

Will vpass allow you to schedule a visit if you are not approved? The reason I'm asking is because I was told my an officer in the prison my husband is at... that they sometimes take there time to let the inmate know if there visitor is approved.... and I want to see if vpass will allow me to make an appointment... and if it does allow me does that mean I'm approved or if it will allow me to just make an appointment... I am a Lil anxious... and curios.... TIA

You can create an account and make an appointment the system doesnt know if you are approved. The only way to know is for your inmate to receive notification.

I have been wondering about this Vpass thing. I am in the UK and stayed up until 4am (UK Time) when Vpass open the appointments. at 8.01pm (Californian time) all appointments have gone. I am pulling my hair out. Travelling all the way from the UK and unable to get an appointment. I am stressing, to the point that I cancelled my last trip to the USA because I was unable to get an appointment. So again I am going to try and book appointments for 4-5 June and for the following weekend

VPASS appts. do go very quickly. Which facility are you hoping to visit? The reason I ask is because some of them have phone hours to make an appt. and for goodness sake, you travel far in excess of the 300(?) miles they consider long distance. Some facilities will allow those travelers to process as a walk-in along with the first round of appointments, usually 8 or 8:15am.

Your best bet is to contact the visitation office of that facility and explain your situation. They are likely to verbally assign an appt. or tell you to walk in.

Hi. There is a special process that can be followed for those traveling from outside of the state of CA (more than 250 miles- I think you qualify!!! )- so you don't have to pull your hair out.

The process is to contact the public information officer (PIO) at the prison where you want to visit and schedule your appointment through him/her.

Here is the link to the contact information for each PIO at every prison.

http://www.cdcr.ca.gov/News/pio-lists.html

Click that link and then click on adult institutions.

Attached is the CDCR memo outlining the process.

You must call/email within 30 days of your visit (in other words, don't call now for appointments in September.)

You can call or email the PIO. I usually do everything by email. In an event, I would sure that you get a follow up email confirmation and bring it with you in case there are any problems.

What prison will you be visiting?

I'm only sorry we weren't able to tell you sooner. Be sure to update us after your visit. 32 years! Holy cow...that's exciting.

I just noticed they changed the time on VPASS for Calipatria from 8pm to 9pm. Has everyone had a change at their facility? Was there an email? Why am I just finding out?

I am not happy, someone done messed with my routine. lol

Yes, the time was also changed from 8PM to 9PM at SCC. I only found out after trying to make an appt. for at least 15 minutes with no success. No email or anything which seems unusual since they're pretty good at notifying us of other changes.

Default VPass

In the past, I had a VPass account. Now I cannot access VPass. Should I create a new account. If I click forgot password it says my email address is not in the system and not recognized. We are traveling from PA to CA. Should I just call the PIO? We are visiting the weekend of June 18th and 19th. I do know we are allowed to visit both weekend days because we are traveling quite a distance. I used VPass when my son was at LA County. He is now in California rehabilitation at Norco. Any help would be appreciated.

I would just make a new one. There isn't any sort of ID verification. The only hang up is that you'll need to use a different email address. I had to make a second one because VPASS has no option to change your last name. So I use them both depending on the device I'm on.

Default If I cancel an appointment on VPASS does the spot open up instantly?

Or is there any way to give the visit to someone else?

You can't transfer the visit, so you'll need to both be online...you cancel yours and within a minute or so, that spot will open up. Then they can snag it.

Default Anyone have a direct number to who maintains the VPASS website?

Good morning everyone.

Does anyone have a direct number to who maintains the VPASS website?.

For the last two weeks, the date drops off Friday. Example, if I'm looking to visit a Saturday, and get on VPASS at 5am Saturday no time slot or date is available. There are always folks canceling at the last minute. I've scheduled visits as late as 6:30 am for a 10am that same day. There is a bug on that website specifically for the facility I visit.

Has anyone else encountered any issues, lately?

The (800) 374-8474, is not the number I need. I had a direct number to Sacramento and misplaced it .
Can anyone assist me.
Thanks.

If you find a direct line to them, phone or email or chat, I would like to post it as a sticky in the Cali forum. I've tried and cannot get anywhere with them. I have an account that is useless to me because it refuses to approve my driver's license. Says it's expired but won't let me enter a new date. Or change my name. Such a headache.

Unfortunately that's specific to KVSP. I wish it covered all of CDCR!

Hi Nica,
I'm at Centinela and have been having the same problem. It seems like a system wide change...
