It has come to my attention that many (most) of the articles posted in this forum are not in keeping with PTO's Copyright Rules I realize this is not intentional and would greatly appreciate anyone posting an article to follow this format:

Quote:
Title of Article

First 2-3 lines of the article

To read the entire article: Post the link.

Here is a link to that Rule: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/sho...71&postcount=1

If anyone has any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them

Thanks so much ya'll!

I've probably been one of the biggest (unknowing) offenders.... Many apologies and thanks for the clarification!

I have a clarification question;

What about when posting case rulings from court websites? court websites are public record, and not copyright.

Can we post more on court rulings say from ohio supreme court for example?

thanks, steve

no because the media links will disappear, unless someone knows how to convert them and make them be permanent on the interenet so when someone googles them they will pop up. I see this done with very popular articles.

they might last 6 months on dispatch website, others 3 months.

so i try to include the important information so people can dig and research more if it applies to them or their case, including attorneys

Seems you answered your own question. I get emails alerts from several sources, press announcements and the like,.....they too "disappear" after so long and the links no longer work.

That being said for anyone posting articles, please follow the above policy. I appreciate it very much!

Okay again for the 3rd time I have never recieved a direct reply regarding posting from court websites like ohio supreme court, court of appeals, 6th circut, and u.s. supreme which have no type of copy right. Can we post paragraphs from them?

Many of them do actually have links.....I have a plethora bookmarked, especially Supreme Court Rulings. Often they are pdf links, but links nevertheless. Entire proceedings may not be posted.....this is PTO's Copyright Rules.
