My husband has been in prison for 13 years, sometimes I think I just hardened with the system and nothing seems to bother me anymore. I don't cry nor do I get upset about anything. I think this is my way to deal with it. A couple years ago we had went through some real hard times. My husband was moved to a federal prison 500 miles from home and then brought back to Wisconsin to the Supermax! I was dammed if I was going to let the WI DOC break me and they didn't I became stronger.

I do like it in Appleton, there is so much more to do thean in Waupun all there is there is prisons.

Take Care
Robin

My grandson is at Columbia Correctional. He will be out March 6th. It's such a long drive for me from Green Bay.
He's trying to transfer to Oshkosh Correctional but don't know when he'll be moved. His name is Travis.

Just wanted to update everybody...Shane has finally been transfered out of Stanley! He is currently at Fox Lake/minimum, but they are saying that is only temporary. He wants to try and stay there or be transfered to Oregon or Thompson. Yeah!!!!

Well, we've moved...again! Shane is now in Oakhill minimum in Oregon. I haven't heard of much info on this place yet. What we have heard hasn't been good. Said compared to most minimums, their rules are pretty strict.

I told him I don't care---he's 22 minutes from my house!!! What more could I possibley ask for????

Greetings,

I think my cousin is in the Waupan Correctional Institution. The only reason I think I know this is some records I found online through The Consolidated Court Automation Programs. He was sentenced back in '94 or '95 and I'm assuming he got life w/o parole. I would have to dig around for old newspapers to find out everything. I am thinking of writing to the address I found for him to see if he's really there. I have not had contact with him since before he committed the crime. I never see his mom to talk to her, as she seems caught up in her new life now.

Default Tell Me Anything about WI Prisons

My boyfriend got sentenced to 18mos prison. He has been at Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility and is waiting to go to Dodge. I have not heard from him in 4 days!! There is so much that I would like to know. How long does the assessment take at Dodge in order to find out which prison they go to? What exactly is a lock-down? How long does it last and is he by himself? Due to over-crowding, if you are sentenced to 18mos in prison and you get sent to a minimun fac prison, can they send you home on house arrest if you are non-violent? And in min sec prison, do you work on a farm for the prison system ir do they help you find an actual job that is not related to the prison system.
Please let me know anything!! One operater tells me 1 thing the other another.
Thanks, Guyute

Phis....I can tell you what I know. Hope it helps some The assessment at Dodge takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks. And when they are transfered he won't be able to tell you when he is going until he gets there...it's for security reasons. I do believe that "lockdown" is when the whole unit is shutdown...meaning the inmates are locked in there rooms, no phone calls ..nothin. And that can be for many reason's. As far as how long that all depends on why the unit is being locked down...could be that they are looking for something. In the "hole" is when they do something wrong and they are in isolation for a period of time. (by themselves)

I do believe that if you are sentenced to 18 months and you are taken to a minimum you have to serve your time there....Depends I guess on the case. Now if he is eligable for work release then that could be different. All the prisons in Wi are so over crowded! My fiance is eligable for a minimum, but do to programs that he has not yet taken he cannot go... And it is the State's fault that he has not yet taken the programs!!
It also depends on if he is sentenced under the "Truth in Sentencing Law" then he is required to serve all his time. I am not sure what kind of job they help you get...I have never had to deal with that before. My ex used to be in the Huber center, but that is through the jails...so I don't know too much about that...

I don't know if any of this has helped you!! I hope so...feel free to pm me or e-mail me if you have any other questions...I will be glad to answer anything that I can to help you!
Good Luck

The assessment for my brother will take 4 months and my brother got 6 months in prison but they are sending him back to washington co jail after he is done with his assessment. the assessment part they have 2 man rooms or 4 i think and they have a room for 1 person too.. lockdown when they are locked in their sell my brother gets out to have rec time and then i think he is in his room all the rest of the time but they have windows in their rooms. he probably would get a job out side the prison if they offer it for him i know at dodge only the women work at their diary farm. i don't think they will send him home underhouse arrest they never gave my brother that option and he is non violent.... hope this helps anyother questions u can e-mail me if u want Personal email address removed by Forum Leader – Please see PTO Policies and Rules.and when your boyfriend first gets there e can't call for about i week i think and at first he only gets 1 call a week and a one hour vist and then it goes to 2 hour visits but u have to have him to send u a visitatation paper they ask questions on it and check your background before u are approved and it takes about 1-2 weeks after they get it to put u on his list...

My brother just got to Fox Lake about two months ago. I am finally approved for his visiting list and my fiance's uncle has been there for at least 20 or more years for a crime he committed when he was only 17. My fiance' is 27, and said that he only remembers his uncle as being in Fox Lake since he was a baby. I hope my brother and my fiance's uncle come home soon!

Thanks for the positive comment. I do all I can to help my community. Today's prisoner will be tomorrow's neighbor. So we need to embrace them as they come back into the community, and help them to strive for excellence.

Hi everyone, My fiance has just been sent to the New Lisbon facility, everything is so new there. Like when you visit your escorted to the visititation room, they have about twelve tables and only three machines to pick food out of, Listening to others say last week there were none to pick from. Thinking I feel blessed to even be allowed to be there, wanting to take him home with me! We struggle with appeals the last one denied. Now with the move just last week we only had till the 30th of april for this appeal with no help from anyone he wrote for and extention. The law library isn't even open yet, our hands are tided yet we pray to GOD for help to some relief. In 2006 we go in front of the parole board by that time with GODS help we should be married. Please if anyone knows anything about writs and appeals or a good lawyer and not a states attorney that could help, please responded. God Bless
