Princess,

You can mail paperback books and mags, put you can't take them in with you at a visit. And once the form is approved, usually take a 1-2 weeks, they will let your boyfriend know, and its his responsibility to let you know you are approved.

Thanks Vella,When my boyfriend was in FCI Allenwood I couldn't find a van service in Philadelphia either, none that went to federal prisons anyway, I found a few that went to state facilities. Most of the ones I've come across operate out of New york. My boyfriend is on the West side of Fort dix.

Hi,

Well, I am crushed. My dad turned himself in today in FCI Fort Dix. I know absolutely nothing about the system, and did a google search and read this website the whole day. I just need to ask a few questions I am dying for answers of. When do you think it is possible that he would be able to make his first phone call? What happens the first few days that he is in prison? Also, is it true an inmate cannot have visits every single weekend? My mom, sister and I are absolutely crushed. If someone here can lend a helping hand with information I would appreciate it very much. Thank you all in advance!

Hi Will,

Welcome to PTO We are here to support and help each other. You have come to the right place.

Calls are prepaid from their account and all numbers must be approved and put on his list. He will have a access number that he will use to make calls. It should only take about a week. But that all depends on how crowded they are and if they have many new inmates to process. You also need to fill out a visiting authorization form to be approved for visits. He will be told once you are approved. Visiting hours are different during the week depending on which building your dad is in. East, West or Camp? The week end visits go according to the letter of there last name and its true that they are not every weekend. Find out what building he is in and call the prision 609-723-1100 to find out about the visits.

I don't know much about the East and West, my husband is in the camp, But I will be happy to help anyway I can.
