Default Does anyone else here lift?

Iíve finally come to terms with the fact moderate drinking just does not work for me, so since I quit drinking Iíve started lifting. Iím naturally very thin and tall, and Iíve got really strong legs but my arms are pathetic! I started with 5lb dumbbells and now theyíre starting to feel like Iím lifting the air after only a week of using them daily. I feel so much healthier already though... I look forward to getting ripped lol

A gym near me is offering a two month membership for $1 only today! Iím gonna sign up but Iím afraid Iíll look like an idiot trying to figure out how to use those contraptions. I havenít been in a gym since high school. Is there usually staff in the gym you can ask to show you how things work?

When you first sign up the staff is usually happy to show you around and answer any questions you might have. Most of the machines have diagrams on them showing you how they work. Free weights are a whole different story. You really need to know what you are doing to avoid injury...forget about looking silly. https://www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/ has video tutorials on just about anything you'd want to do.

Free weights do make me a bit nervous. Iíve been doing fine with the 5lbs ones but... thatís only 5lbs. Hopefully Iíll make a friend at the gym who could help me when I graduate from something heavier than grocery bags! Good to know theyíll show me around though.

I love heavy lifting, been doing it since around 2013 although I haven’t lifted anyhmg heavier than my purse since I got pregnant (pelvis issues.) I love going to the gym at 3am when it’s totally dead and zoning out for hours.

I’m ready to push this baby out so I can recover and get back to it!

I do because I have (upper) back problems and doing weights helps me tremendously - the pain I used to have is just about gone. I do cardio for 30 min to warm up and then weights on diff. machines. It not just helps with my back pain but it helps me calm down and decompress enormously. It's really good for my overthinking brains.
I'm no Arnold Schwarzenegger by any means but not wobbly either

Getting back to it after a break....starting with pretty light weights. But yes, a gym has always been a part of my life, I've just had the unfortunate habit of taking breaks, argh

I have lifted free weights for years. I like to tone up my arms and that is a good way of doing it. I dont lift anything heavy, but I do enjoy weight training.
