Default FAQ~Rhode Island DOC Phones

ARE ALL INMATE SOCIAL/PERSONAL CALLS COLLECT?
Yes. All inmate calls to family and friends are collect calls.

DOES THE RIDOC MONITOR PERSONAL TELEPHONE CALLS?

Yes. All telephone calls, except those between inmates and attorneys and the Rhode Island State Police Intelligence and Narcotics Unit, are subject to monitoring and/or recording.

WHY ARE TELEPHONE CALLS RECORDED?
Calls are recorded for security reasons. Callers are given advance notice that their telephone conversations will be recorded. Call recipients must accept these conditions prior to the call’s connection.

Do not accept the collect call. If the calls persist contact the facility warden. Concerns may also be directed to the John O. Pastore Complex Telecom Help Desk at 401-462-5999.

HOW MANY PHONE NUMBERS CAN AN INMATE HAVE?
Inmates are allowed up to ten social phone numbers and five attorney numbers. They may also call the department’s Special Investigations Unit (401-462-2282), the Inspector’s Office (401-462-2551), the on-grounds Rhode Island State Police Office (401-462-2650) and licensed bail bondsman (numbers provided by the facility). An inmate’s approved list of phone numbers may be changed or updated at scheduled intervals.

The call may be disconnected and the inmate may be subjected to discipline.
