Default Thanksgiving in Prison...

The love of my life is spending yet another Thanksgiving locked up. This will make, like, three years straight or something of being incarcerated? she did a year in one county, like six months in another, and a year and a half in prison... she gets out in July (she says May, but the site says July) so if all goes as planned this will be her last holiday in there! What are you guys doing for your loved ones in there to make their holidays a little better? I think I am going to get a card, send a hundred bucks for commissary (not much I know but I don't even have a job) and promise to fry a turkey and have an awesome meal when she gets out. I write her long romantic letters all the time and I've sent a little money a couple of times.. I wish I could do more but if I could I would. Any other ideas?

Holidays are always hard but just try to make the best of it. Definitely holiday cards. I always send them. And we always have our own little meal at visitation. We just try to make it special. But like you said, it's the last holidays she'll have to spend there! !

In my memory, Thanksgiving and Christmas were the two worst days of the year inside. There’s just nothing good about them when you’re inside and nothing can change that. Send her as nice a present (that’ll make it through package screeners) as you can, or money for commissary would be great, too.

Just do your best to make it through a bleak situation, look forward to what’s only half a year away and after that happens, both of you need to make SURE she doesn’t end up back inside again---not ever and not for any reason. Best wishes and best of luck to you both with it.

I think your very sweet to even worry about her Thanksgiving, frankly I'm sitting here thinking wow I'm a total bitch as I really could careless how my husbands holiday is, he chose to break the law and he knew where he'd end up. Blessings to you.

I ordered my girl a special gift through a service called iCare (she's in county) that sells assortments of food not available on commissary.... at a very elevated price!

At CIW they had visits on Thanksgiving (xmas too), and the vending machine people stocked them with holiday meals (turkey etc. on Thanksgiving). I spent the morning with her and the afternoon with "outside" friends and family, both days. Now that she's in ASPC Perryville (old warrant that sprang up the day she paroled in California, ) no holiday visits, and not even 'food visits' (which is just as well, as she'll spend her entire time on Phase I and won't ever be eligible) around the holidays. We did kinda luck out, my background check cleared fast and she hit a yard the week before Thanksgiving, so I was able to drive out and see her ahead of the holiday. 5 months left...
