Default Sending money by Jpay - will he get notified as to who sent the money?

It's my guys birthday next month and I want to send him some money through Jpay. I just wanted to know if he will get notified as to who sent the money? The reason I'm asking is because there are a few other people who will also send him money on that day so I just wondered if he will know who sent what? I don't really want to say to him 'I sent you xxx dollars' lol!

They are supposed to be notified when money put is on their books but it doesn't always happen. I don't know if they are told who it is from. I always write to tell my pal how much I've sent for his birthday and I give him the transaction number. I know its not the same as a surprise, but I'd rather he got his dollars than something went wrong.

My pal is in SQ

This depends of the state where he is incarcerated at so I'm going to move this to Indiana forums. I know things doesn't work the same way even with JPay in different states.

Mine, (California) gets notified it was me. The only time he didn't was when he moved from the Seg back to the yard. I always just write, "I put a little something on your books." And just leave it at that.

I know when I got a JPay payment (in NJ), we got a slip of paper in the mail with it. The person can send anonymously through MoneyGram and put whatever name he or she wants then. I got an anonymous payment with a fake name on it once (still not sure who it was, but I have my suspicions). I think if you use the JPay app, it automatically tells you who the person is, though, cuz it's linked to a credit card.

Michigan DOC includes a receipt for them at mail call, it lists your name.

And just to add to the mix... In Texas they won't know unless you tell them or send a note saying so. They don't even get a receipt saying they received money. This is why in Texas JPay now offers you a possibility of sending a short note for free when you send money, but you don't have send it.

So really, it depends of the state. I think your best bet to get accurate information how it works in Indiana is send email to JPay and ask them.

Also in Indiana if you are not on an approved visiting list it will probably get rejected and sent back to you. This is a change Indiana made a few year ago to try and stop black mail scams. If you are an approved visitor then he should get a notice of who it came from.

Yes I'm on his visitors list, so hopefully he will know it's from me
