Default Wheelchair in prison?

Looking at doing 18 months .

I can't really walk to well and getting around without the wheel chair is almost inpossable. Will I get a chair or get to keep my own.

I don't know if you'll get to keep yours or if they'll give you one....but it would be in your best interest to have medical records / doctor's prescription or statement that the chair is medically necessary.

My husband is in a wheelchair and had no problems when he self surrender last week to a camp. However, the camp he was assigned to was not wheelchair accessible and unfortunately he was transferred 10 hours from home. You may want to make sure the facility you are being sent to is wheelchair accessible. Best of luck to you.

They are very unlikely to let you have your chair. They should provide one but it sounds like you will be in a provincial jail and conditions in those are highly variable and in general not good. Unfortunately you can't depend on getting even the most basic services. You might - or you might not. If you are in Newfoundland I suggest you contact the local John Howard Society; they may know more about how HMP there works.

Keep in mind that if your sentence is 18 months you should be out in 12...
