Default Meek Mills REFORM group coronavirus petition

Please go here & sign their petition to get action for our incarcerated loved ones who are at risk from the virus. https://p2a.co/BMoJYaF You can sign the petition & also use their form to reach out to your elected officials. We need to make noise & bring awareness to the subject that no one is addressing. Incarcerated people are a very vulnerable population that has nowhere safe they can go & have at best minimal healthcare on a normal basis. The news media hasn't really looked at what will happen if the virus takes hold in a prison setting. Some states already have guards & workers who have tested positive.

...and here is another petition calling for the release of elderly and sick from jails & prisons. This one is from ACLU:
Stop the Spread of COVID-19: Free the Elderly and Sick from Prisons and Jails

Public health experts are sounding the alarm of the threat that prisons and jails pose in this pandemic. There is a heightened risk of infection for people who are involved in the criminal legal system – people living in it, staff, and the communities they return home to.

Here's another petition, this one specific to Texas

Expedite the release of non-violent inmates from TDCJ. Allow the inmates the same chance to survive as the rest of the world. See the inmates as people, not animals They are our Husbands, fathers, wives, mothers..

By being held in cells or dorms with 50 or more other inmates they are not given a chance to survive. They are being sentenced to death. When the virus penetrates the walls of a prison the results will be catastrophic. Its inhumane to keep them locked away knowing that its just a matter of time before the virus runs rampant through the prison system.

If you'd like to help, contact advocacy groups in your state that are working to get attention to the problem. The ACLU has taken a stand on what Nevada needs to do to address the crisis. Here is a link to their site info. https://www.aclunv.org/en/news/polic...covid-19-heres I would suggest possibly reaching out to the person who wrote the article & share your concerns. He is Udi Ofer, Director, Justice Division, ACLU Nevada. He is on Twitter & there is also contact info for the ACLU here. https://www.aclunv.org/en/resources/contact-information
The Justice Collaborative has a site with info on how to reach out to bring awareness to the situation facing our incarcerated loved ones. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a link to a sample letter you can send to elected officials urging them to take action. https://thejusticecollaborative.com/covid19/
Another advocacy group, Prison Policy Initiative has a great site with info on the virus & also sample letters. https://www.prisonpolicy.org/virus/index.html

Good luck & stay strong.

feeling lost and alone in Manitoba Canada fighting to get my immune compromised fiancée home while he waits for a trial that i'm sure will now be pushed beyond its may 14 date....and struggling to find any type of supports where I am. feeling lost....feeling scared. this is devastating. release inmates and allow them to serve house arrest or take other measures.
