You got that right! Hopefully it won't last too long. Right before he moved from Donovan, they were on LD and then he had about a week of some movement then back to LD at this prison. I sent him a package and of course that is on hold while they are on LD...sheesh!!!!!

That would be wonderful!!! But their job isn't to pick em up...it's to break em down. If they only realized that if they gave positive reinforcement, the recidivism rate would probably decrease tremendously. Kicking someone when they are already down just makes someone feel less worthy and causes a "what the heck is the point" attitude. Just my

I agree entirely about kicking them when down. I do realize for many they need a bit more motivation to learn from their mistakes. Mine learned in the first week. Everything from that point on is useless. Once the learning has been accomplished it becomes a hardening. Or the act of not becoming hardened in there.

so my guy has been told that he will be allowed one phone call a month for probably a year. This is because he doesnt have a job/school yet. Is this normal? He wants a job/school but they haven't given them anything. Thanks.

Inmates in privilege group B are only entitled to one phone call per month. You are not generally penalized for non-work if you are awaiting an assignment. Normally the inmate will go on a wait list for a job or school and he will be given privilege group A privileges until he is assigned (in group A your phone access isn't restricted). It is different if he is offered a job or school program and he refuses. Then that would shift him into a different privilege group. So I don't know why he is being told that.

Maybe it's just word of mouth from other guys. He just got out of reception and hasnt been able to make calls yet. Gtl lost my first fax in jan so I have to wait until they say they received the one I sent Tuesday. It's good to know that if they have nothing for him to do, they won't penalize him for that. One call a month means I'd expect him to call his dad.
