The mail just started flowing again - mail coming in that is. My son said no mail was delivered for 5-6 days. I am waiting to visit as well but since I am coming LONG distance I will wait till he is mainlined = better visit.

Do any of you ladies type and print your letters? I looked at the regulations and it says white or yellow loose leaf paper, does that mean printer paper is a no no?

I send letters I type up on word and print onto white copy paper and have never had a problem...he tells me he loves my handwritten letters better. It feels more personal to him.

I type and print. Havent had any problems. I've also sent him blank computer paper so he can draw and we havent had problems with that either.

I also type and print on white copy paper, plus copy and paste pictures or clip art, and haven't had any problem at other institutions. I'm a newbie as far as RJD goes, so we'll see what happens. Typing is much easier on my old hands than writing letters by hand.

Same experience for me with the mail - so annoying
Has anyone else been told by their loved ones about the lack of hair cuts, little to no yard time and getting served small amounts of food? I am trying to get together a letter to the ombudsman and would like to give her an accurate picture.

My man talks about the no yard time, and still the mail I am receiving is 3 weeks old but he receives mine in 3 to 4 days. He has put in two grievances.

The first few letters I received from him arrived to me in SF Bay Area within 3-4 days, but so far, my letters are taking 7 to 11 days to reach him. Mail seems very sporadic. I haven't received a phone call since Sunday, so he may be on lockdown due to short staffing, which is typical during holiday periods at any institution.

My loved one also has complained about the extremely small servings and very poor quality and taste of the food. He stated, "It's the worst food of any institution I have ever been in," and he has been around, so I believe him.

I had that happen and I was so sad. The envelope was a drawing of my uncle whod just passed away so I was glad I got that at least but the letter included stuff we needed to discuss and we never did.

I hope things have changed. My husband got there recently but he has been able to call me daily. Is that unusual? Or have things just improved?

So normally I get mail in 2 days now I am still waiting for something he sent this week. He sends Thursday so I get it Sat. He mentioned that the cos in his building are now reading the letters, at their leisure, before mailing them. The mailbox is taped shut and they cant put the mail in there. Why are they just reading whenever they decide to? I am wondering if this is why I havent gotten my mail yet. I hope its because he just transposed the zip like he did before.

Default Have you heard of this?

Hi
My man is at Wasco for reception but apparently he has been told by some LA County Jail deputies on the day they sent him to Wasco that due to his medical status(HIV) and education(masters degree)which should result in him being classified as level 1, he is likely going to Donovan. Is Donavan one of the few facilities where they have HIV specialists or access to? I dont know why they would give him this info. From what I have read Donovan is a good place and they have great vocational programs like a bakery and such....I just dont want him to get his hopes up

Good questions, hopefully someone will be able to answer them for you. I havent heard my guy talk about any vocational programs, except to say they make their own bread. It is a nice place though, Donovan.
