Welcome to Prison Talk. Here is what the PA DOC says about the SIP program.

I hope you receive answers from folks who have completed PA intermediate punishment,

Hi yes thank you for that website I’ve already read that tho and also there was a post on here where people say they’re incarcerated for the whole 24 months but that was back in like 2008 I’m curious if the program has gotten any better yet. As it was started in 2006 I believe

Hi.

The program "works" in proportion to the individual's commitment. In other words, if the individual puts 100% into truly improving himself or herself and is willing to obey all the rules, they succeed. Those who end up doing more time in jail are those who tried to cut corners.

I once toured a "halfway-back" center and met with a few dozen men who'd been sent there in lieu of prison because they'd committed technical violations of their supervision. Every one of them insisted he'd done nothing wrong ... and a little research proved everyone of them was simply in denial. Little misbehaviors are often the beginning of the relapse. Walking the line for 24 months takes real focus and determination.

The alternative is to be sentenced for the predicate offense, go to prison, hope to be paroled somewhere close to the minimum, and then "walk off" the parole.

Bob

Thank you bobble60 that makes more sense, with someone who has the determination to get out and better theirselves they shouldn’t have any problems getting through the program.
