Post Criminal Defense

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. I need HELP and need it ASAP! Does anyone know of any good Criminal defense attorneys located in Brooklyn, NY that can prepare a 440 motion brief?
I've written Legal Aid but haven't received a response and I need to obtain an attorney to prepare this brief as it is imperative it is filed in Court by October, 2003.
I'd appreciate any assistance or leads you can furnish. Thanks so much

Googled 'new york 440 motion' and found this site. It is not a recommendation of the fellow... It is a link to the site he maintains which, if nothing else is candid and informative about NY appellate procedure. He's in Queens, for the Record.

If it helps, great. If it's just a bit of education... no loss there either...
Good luck.

I am sort of curious why you or anyone looks for a direct appeal attorney...(the FIRST appeal following conviction.) People are to be assigned for that sort of thing.. Hence the word...Direct.

It's not clear if that appeal has come and gone in your case and you're looking to file some other sort of post-conviction motion which will be useful an has it's own deadline for filing (like 3 years from conviction for ineffective assistance of counsel..--those things change every day..)

Keep in mind, you don't necessarily want sign someone on who is just capable of filing 'some' motion (even if it's called by the appropriate name.." ... Since a lot of post conviction motions are curtailed to only one attempt (filing) on the subject,... Make sure this fellow/woman had a good grip the case and will file the best danged version of the motion that can be done.... Just something to keep in mind.
