Talk to your local police. You don't have to tell them why you need to know - it could be just a matter of personal safety as far as they're concerned.

Homeowners rarely have to worry about this..."Crime free" is typically for multi-unit house...ie apartments, etc!!

I'm in an HOA as well. You might want to read your CCRs, but I seriously doubt there is anything in there about Crime Free neighborhood.

The ACLU would be all over that one. Just imagine..."the bank says you can buy a house, but because you have been to prison, you can't live here".

The crime-free neighborhood issue has been fought in court, but a landlord can chose not to lease to someone who has a felony or bad credit. They can not chose to NOT lease to you based on race ie "fair housing"

When the parole officer came for my home visit he said that because I owned my condo my husband could come here to live. So I am sure that you are OK.

Well I did my research today

if you own your house you are automaticly considered for a parole release. Obviously you.can't be a felon or have other felons living with you. And the crime that the inmate committed can't be paroled.to the house he committed the crime.

HOAs cannot deny you to have who you.want living at your.home if.you own it. The only time you.have.to let them know someone living there is if they are a sex offender.

an apartment compmex or landlord can fine if they are a crime free residence and can deny an inmate being paroled to their property.

Soooooooooo we (ladies) were right. I swear I think people just make crap up in there to worry others.

Sam, you realize, you are very close to that 300 day mark. YEA for you and Deon!! At 300 days, you should change your ticker to "DAYS" instead of "MONTHS"

Well, that's discrimination, plain & simple. There's so many people labelled "sex offender" for stupid s#@ that it doesn't mean anything any more.

I completly agree.... my friend, when we were SRs in highschool, dated a JR who was 16... she got mad at my friend told her parents and now he is a "sex offender". Unfourtuntly the law doesn't see it like us. I mean they should define the diffrence between people like my friend and people who sexually assult adult/kiddos you know what I mean?
