Actually I really just keep water and granola bars. I need to put a thermal blanket and some other stuff to keep warm. I had a plastic bin with a ton of stuff but it needed to come out and stuff tossed. I also have a good first aid kit.

Yeah, some sort of blanket, but food, water & 1st aide kit is far better than nothing.

And you might want to think about carrying some of your medications with you in your purse too.

I always have a week of pills in my purse, lost my diabetes med once and I am kind of paranoid about it!!! I can survive with out most of the crap I am on except the metaformin and my blood pressure pills. The rest are mainly pain, stomach, anxiety stuff and I don't carry drugs like that for obvious reasons.

I love that dish! I have learned to make new dumplings for every meal. A real pain, but I don't think reheated dumplings have the comfort food quality of fresh ones.

Some times I make my dumplings thick, sometimes I make them thin, but either way they are fantastic.

In fact I will be making a pot in a few days.

Oh, I got potatoes yesterday along with some apple sauce & you know what that means?

LOL I sure do!!! I actually have a friend who thought I'm Jewish because I buy Bagels!!!LOL I forgot how lame and uncultural the area I live in is!!! I buy the premade dumplings (I know I'm a lazy cow)!!! They are really good the Mrs. B's brand. I never realized a lot of the food my mother cooked was considered Jewish. We would have brisket and stuffed cabbage. Plus a bunch of other stuff. I don't eat the smoked fish or Gifilte Fish worked in a store in college that had a huge Jewish customer base. We sold so much of that stuff I'd make myself sick smelling the fish all day!!! Great job and tons of fun, had to get drunk at lunch to deal with the customer service desk!!!

I am attempting a lifestyle change to lose some weight. So, probably chicken, veggies, sweet potato, a chicken ceasar salad or salmon, asparagus and brown rice. I don't know yet but one of those three lol.

Speaking of Italian, which I am not, we are having spaghetti tonight. Which in hindsight was a poor choice for the first night of Yule...but I was tired when I pulled meat out this morning LOL!

I'm getting to hate the holidays!!! I went shopping again and all I have bought is stuff to make for Christmas and christmas eve. Plus all the baking crap, next year I am going to a hotel resort on the beach. I will never attempt a holiday alone again.

Ok I am going to get this party started again!!! Last night I made Shrimp Pasta Salad! Very simple 1 rib celery chopped 1/2 large bell pepper chopped, one can ro-tel tomatoes with green chili's drained, 1/2 lb of elbow noodles cooked till still very firm, not crunchy, 1lb of large shrimp peeled cleaned shrimp cut in 1/2, and 1/2 teaspoon of old bay seasoning, about a cup of any mayo. Mix all together, you may need to add more mayo after and I also put a table spoon of lemon juice. Its great and very simple. I now have enough to feed like 5 people!!

That shrimp salad sounds good - never thought about the tomatoes, but that would be a big taste.

I am making borscht this afternoon. A small pot of borscht although it does freeze well if I don't add potatoes until serving time.

Last night we had spicy sausage and cabbage soup...it was AMAZING but soooo spicy! Served with fresh french bread!

One package spicy kielbasa (sliced then cut in half), one head green cabbage (roughly chopped), one white onion (roughly chopped), a couple celery stalks (chopped), one can of petite diced tomatoes with green chilies, chicken stock or bouillon. Pepper, celery salt, chili powder, absolutely whatever you want to season it with. Put everything in the pan and then nearly cover with water or stock, turn heat to high and bring to a boil, cover pan and reduce heat to maintain boil but you know..not boil over. When cabbage is soft add one cup minute rice and cook until soft (about 5 minutes). Serve.

The ro-tel adds a great element to it other wise its kind of bland. Everyone who I ever served it to loved it, you can also add other veggies like cucumber diced but it takes over the flavor too much for me. I love the shrimp! It's a great summer meal, and it makes a very pretty salad!! I love to eat stuff that looks pretty!!! Goes well with a nice Chardonay!!! Barbie love a good glass with her dinner!!!

I thought it sounded great for summer. I love cucumbers, but they water everything down too much.

I've been knitting so am always on the look-out for easy to eat stuff that doesn't get my hands dirty. My knitting has advanced from wash cloths, to scarves, to caps.

How many caps & scarves does one need in the Deep South?

This year a lot!!! My friend knits caps for kids with cancer, she can make like two a day, and where ever she got hooked up with this they give her the yarn. She makes some really cute ones I thought it was great as she's a cancer survivor. I used to pick up yarn from thrift stores for her when she was sick as she couldn't afford the yarn, either could I at craft stores. I found a great thrift store and it had a whole room of material, yarns, and all sorts of craft stuff.

I made chicken chili in the pressure cooker for lunch and it was so tasty I’ll probably eat it for dinner too. 0 points on Weight Watchers freestyle!

I'm scared to make chicken in my pressure cooker...because I have an old school pressure cooker and a glass top stove which is very unpredictable. I just know the chicken will either be raw or dry as hell.
