Default Deportation Stamp on passport?

I'm trying to do some pre-planning for a trip where my man and I can meet after he is deported. He is still currently serving his prison term and the BOP website still doesn't have a release date but it should be late December. He is from Moldova so Lord knows how long the deportation process will take. Anyway, I've found there are countries where he doesn't need a visa to enter so I'm thinking about a 3-4 week trip to the Bahamas for us to reunite and perhaps even see if we would want to live there. There is soooo much I don't know about deportation and how it will affect his ability to travel and/or immigrate to another country. He wont be allowed back in the USA and he doesn't want us living in Moldova. Anyway, yesterday he mentioned a deportation stamp might be put on his passport. This is the first I've heard of this. If he says he wants to voluntarily depart will he still get this stamp because he was charged with an aggravated felony and served prison time? Can this be removed if he gets a new passport or will it follow him forever? I tried calling the Moldova embassy in Washington D.C. but apparently they don't speak English (wtf??) and just hang up on me...that's even IF they answer the damn phone! I had a Ukrainian friend call but I guess they don't speak Russian or Ukrainian either (which is odd) and they hung up on her too. I really don't want to plan this long trip and get our hopes up just to find out he can't even get on an airplane. He is very worried he will be stuck in Moldova and never be able to live somewhere else....what can I do??? Does anyone know the answers to my questions or have suggestions on who else to talk to???

Hey girl! How are you doing?

Well, as far as I know, Moldova has the same laws as Romania. And in Romania, they do not have any stamps on the passport telling anyone that they have been deported. My friend's husband was deported last year back to Romania and he has no issues traveling in Europe. Although, he wasn't an aggravated felon. I'm not sure if it makes a difference. Hopefully not. But I do know from what I heard, that he cannot get into the UK at all, because they use the same criminal database that the US uses. Same goes for Australia and Canada. As far as when he goes to ICE, no worries, it won't last that long to deport him. Their top priority are aggravated felons. So they will take him to the consulate of Moldova, get him a travel permit if his passport is expired, and will be on his way. It took my fiancee 2 and a half months to get through the whole ICE process, but that included court dates for trying to remain here. ICE told me that if they don't try to fight their case they try their best to get them out in a month maximum or so.

Thank you SOOO much for your response!! I've been getting really worried. He had just gotten his passport from Moldova before he came to the US 3 years ago, so his passport is still valid. He's just worried about the USA putting an ugly "deported" stamp and if he would be able to get in to other countries. If he has to apply for a VISA to a country don't they ask if you've ever been arrested? I've never had to apply for a VISA so I have no idea! The Bahamas don't require a VISA which is one of the reasons why I'm looking there, but I don't know if something would pop up at immigration when they scan his passport and then they would turn him away?

The other thing he wants to do is get a Romanian passport since a lot of Moldavians can claim citizenship with Romania (or something like that?) and that will make travel in the EU easier...but he's not sure if he can do that with a deportation stamp and/or if something pops up. He knows he wouldn't be able to get it if he has a record in Moldova (which he doesn't) so the question is if the same holds with a felony from the USA. Does he have to disclose that information? I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't. I have a list of questions I want to ask the embassy but they don't answer or don't speak English and hang up on me. I found a lady at my gym that is Moldovan and she said she would call for me, but I really don't think she will. I'm so frustrated that no one will help me!!! There are NO answers on the internet. I feel his hopes hanging on me but then he gets sad that we won't be able to be together....it's such a f-ed up situation and I'm trying my hardest to get it figured out.

He won't try to fight his immigration case at this point. If he was able to stay he would have 5 years probation and $97,000 in restitution and he doesn't want to deal with that. He sees soooo many guys in there from parole violations and he never, ever, ever wants to wind up in prison again (thank goodness he feels that way!). And he says it's a 99.99% chance that I could spend lots of money on lawyers and stuff and it wouldn't make a difference. It's pretty clear that the USA wants him out of here and never to come back. So heartbreaking. So now we look for another place to live and I'm totally confused about how a USA felony will affect that. He's really worried he will be stuck in Moldova forever and we won't be able to be together.
