Default Phone calls in Arkansas

Does anyone know if you can get a call forwarding number that is local to the cummins unit to make phone calls cheaper?

It is usually possible, but a lot of states don't allow it. Make sure you look into it before making any decisions. If it isn't allowed then a lot of times they will take away a persons phone privileges.

I have always found that my best bet is finding out through my loved one. They are usually able to get good information about what is allowed and what isn't.

Get cell phone with the same area code & prefix as the prison. That way the calls are not forwarded No prison that I am aware of allows forwarded, 3rd party, or 3-way calls.

Some prisons or the phone companies they use do not allow customers to use a different area code either. I know in some states GTL allows for this and in some states they don't. It just depends.

I thought about that but Im thinking they will still charge that $3.12 connection fee. Im not sure how it works. Right now one 30 min phone call cost 6.80. the money is put in his telephone fund and when he makes the call it comes out. There has got to be a cheaper way... I hope!

Hope this helps. The FCC regulates interstate calls from prisons. If you are going to get a new number, an out of state number is charged at an initial rate of 0.21 and then 0.21 per minute and the $3.12 is not charged initially. A 15 minute out of state call is $3.15.

I don't know the specific policy of ADC about phone numbers but a lot of people ahve out of area numbers due to cell phones.

You can compare rates at securustech.net/call-rate-calculator.

Good luck

Forgot to mention that Google Voice has numbers for free. But it looks like it will only save you 50 cents per call and that is the cheapest way I know. The companies will charge you a monthly fee for a local number and I checked the rate quote and it charges for a local call the same as any instate call, so a local number won't save money.

Google Voice is not allowed and you'd run the risk of having all calls blocked.
