I'm not sure but I hear that it might be getting shorter with some beds having been added. Hopefully someone will be along to give you a better answer.

My son had to wait in County for three months for a bed to open. He eventually went to Glossbrenner. Thankful he has been home for about 3 years now! If you have any questions just let us know. We are here to help.
Staying strong and moving forward!

Hiya Mary ~

As BB's mom said - mind waited in Harris County for three months first round and longer the second. I don't know that it's different for other counties though. I've also read here somewhere of some counties which will allow them to be bonded out and report to their county facility prior to their safp send off.

I would bank on at least three months though. Wish we had better news for you!

48 hours and my baby will be in H-town!! whooooo hooooooo !!!

my husband was told 6-8 weeks when he was sentenced to SAFP, but he only had to wait 4 1/2 weeks. he was going to SAFP special needs. his probation officer said she couldn't say exactly which unit he would be going to, but it was one of 2 special needs units, either Huntsville or Richmond. he ended up at the Estelle Unit in Huntsville on May 12, 2008.
