Red face First time Visit

Hello everyone..I have questions about what to wear. I have heard that Sierra is more strict than other prisons. So am i able to wear boots? The mid calf kind that zip up? How about some thick jeggings? Thanks in advance for your help!

I can't answer your question, but I can give a bit of advice: bring a change of clothes.

I went to visit an inmate and thought that I had followed all the rules regarding what I couldn't wear. but they said no, I can't go in dressed like that. I was wearing light tan pants and a button down shirt.

If you have a change of clothes in the car you will probably be able to change in the restroom and save your visit.

Honestly I doubt you can wear them boots. Cause they don't allow tight fitting clothes. They are very strict on either side you go visit. I'll bring extra extra clothes. Since you never know what will be a go or not.

I gave up on trying to look cute for my husband. There is always ALWAYS a problem. I just wear Victoria Secret PINK sweatsuits or regular sweatsuits. My first two visits I got thru with black jeans. My third visit, wore the same jeans and they were "too tight". They were actually a size 5 and I wear a size 1-3. So they are pretty strict. Those loose jogger type pants are cute and I always get in with those. You have to be careful with shirts though, I once wore a higher cut V neck shirt and even had a tank top on underneath that covered any skin showing to my neck and still got denied. It really depends on the guards though I guess. I just stick to my sweatsuits now though. Having to change when you have an appointment is time consuming and then a lot of times you miss the appointment and have to wait longer.

I wear loose joggers and that seems to work. And shirts I just stick with long sleeves and black usually cause I hate having to change.

I've been going there every week for a couple of months now, and I notice that they are continually sending people back from processing to change their clothes. Also, be forewarned they do a drug test on all visitors, and they are serious about it.

Of course they are serious or drug testing cause it seems to be like main side be causing the most issues for everyone else. I understand that there's a struggle to make ends meet but come on now stop that drug bs. It causes people to get strip search and visits taken away for some others bs.

Caligirl - Are you still in Facility C? When we were up there in October, they were still doing random testing. Do you know if they're now testing everyone?

So does this mean that you no longer push the red/green button to see if you're scanned? They're just scanning everyone? I don't get that since it seems like it would hold up processing quite a bit. How are they doing it when you visit?

They still make you push that button. I haven't gone these pass two weekends, but from my understanding it's still the same.

You only get tested when you push the button and it turns green. If it's red you go on to your visit as usual. As far as I know, it is in almost all facilities.

It's the other way around. If you push green you're good. If you push red they swab your hands. If the swabs come back positive a guard goes with you to wash your hands. If after that it's still positive then you have to get fully searched to be able to visit.

You're absolutely right. I apologize for getting it wrong, but pushing that button makes me so nervous that I messed up. Sorry!

Hello Everyone, this is my first visit at this facility and I was reading what everyone was putting down on here and I'm confused I have never been to a prison that you have to get drug tested and that they make you push a button?! If anyone could explain this to me please... Also how is it when you bring money . Do they have a change machine or do have to bring singles?? Any info will help thank you (:

Wish I could be more help but I'm still pretty new to Sierra...I say bring your own singles just in case and extra clothes.Don't know much about the drug testing Other than its random and its like getting your hands swabbed at the airport.

I don't have any experience at SCC but I have visited at another California prison: They did NOT have a change machine, and I was surprised at how much I spent on a 3 hour visit. I think I spent $18, and would have spent more if I had had more one's to feed the machine.

You could take ones or change. They have change machine but sometimes it doesn't have any. The button is to pass or get tested. If button lights up green( no test) if red you get drug tested by swabbing your hands with a cloth.

Thank you everyone (: I went last weekend and experience it all... lol I random drug tested. I was very disappointed at the vending machines due to the fact they barely had anything to choose from, witch is so sad to me. What can you do right. Lol was just great full to spend time with my brother. (: question does anyone know if you can wear chucks?? (Converse)

Think you can but I'm not so for sure. Bring extra cause you never know I just say bring your whole closer to be on the safe side. And yes those vending machines if they ain't empty that's a big time miracle. At least I can say that for facility c side.
