I am currently working towards my master's degree while working in the field.

Out of curiosity, why would it matter what our gender is?
A good sub-topic here would be, "How many of your fellas have degrees?"

That would be interesting to see. My man had his Bachelors by 19 years old (yah I'm bragging! LOL) and he just took exams to pass his Masters a few weeks ago. I'm so proud of him! He's more educated than me but still calls himself a Moldovan redneck! Haha!

I'm finding this topic very refreshing...I think I'll use a few of your stories. Yeah...i got my Masters in Social Work.

I love all of you that say your colleagues are supportive..on that end, I have been very private. One day I'll be able to shout it out...
All I can do is say....Amen.

But then again, to most people I know, being treated good by your man is defined as him buying you expensive things and taking you out to dinner and things like that. Personally, I can do without all that and he treats me just fine by being the sweet, loving, appreciative, respectful, romantic man that he is. Educated or not, he is who he is, and I love him for that.

Totally agree with you

I have two undergrad degrees one in Theatre (Bachelor's) and one in Nursing (two-year) and my fiance who is incarcerated has a Master's degree in Psychology.
The few co-workers I have told have not really known how to respond but have not been overtly negative. However, in nursing there are always "mean girls" on every unit and mine is no exception so Im sure once my name changes and everyone knows Im married and starts asking questions, there will be gossip.

I have an Associates, Bachelors, Masters and a graduate certificate. Seriously thinking about getting another degree. And, my guy at times sometimes wonder what I see in him because of it. But, it's just pieces of paper that I worked for to add more to my life. But, I see everything in him. Regardless of how others feel. Because there have been those who asked me "how come I don't feel I deserve better". It's my life and he is "better".

PhD in Zoology.

Empathy is not tied to education but to upbringing and socio-economic influences.

This thread made me realize something I hadn't really ever thought of until now. None of my parents or grandparents had any type of degree. In fact, only my mother even finished high school. However, I have three sisters and no brothers and all my sisters have Bachelors and Masters degrees, and I have two Associates degrees I got in the joint. So our whole generation has change the status quo in our family. Something cool to realize now that I think of it.

I have a B.A., 2 Masters, and currently seeking a Ph. D. And the best part about this is, my man has been my biggest supporter as I sought each degree and continued to do so now with my terminal degree.
Almost over....

Didn't graduate from HS, left 3/4 of the way through my sophomore year. Got my GED with high enough scores to attend the university without entrance testing.

Graduated with my BSN (Bachelors in Science of Nursing.)

I have a Bachelor's in Journalism from NYU.

My boyfriend dropped out of school in the 9th grade to blow glass. His work is in galleries across the country and has been shown in exhibits in NYC, Boston, Austin etc etc. He has been making glass since he was 13.

Didn't think of it until now....not only am I the only child with a college degree; but I'm the only one to even graduate from high school. In addition to having my degree, I'm dually certified by the software vendor for the system that I teach.
