Default Anyone knitting?

I spin my own yarn, knit, and weave. I just finished my first pair off socks. (I've knitted several "first" socks and then developed a bad case of second sock syndrome.) I am knitting a hat for a friends daughter tonight for a gift tomorrow so I better get on it.
Blessings,
Kay

I took a beginner's knitting class a few weeks ago and found it to be a lot of fun. I have to go back to learn to purl, though, but I havent signed up yet for a beginner's 2 class yet, just been too busy. I started making a scarf and hope to make a hat or something cute and easy for my newborn nephew. If you have any easy ideas for the latter let me know! Thanks!

I'm busy knitting dishcloths for holiday gifts. I found some great patterns and right now am working on a pumkin one for my consumers at work.

I finally feel confident enought to do a sweater. I just got started on the back. I've done tons of dish towles, scarves and things like that, but until here lately i've been afraid of sweaters.

I have found knitting very relaxing and it calms my nerves. I've been under a lot of stress here lately and knitting is a good release valve. I'm still rather slow at it, so my sweater will probably be done by next fall.

It's a bit awkward at first to learn to spin but it's not hard. I learned on a drop spindle. They are way less expensive than a spinning wheel and easier to learn how to draft the fiber on. I spun on a spindle for a year before getting a wheel. There are some really lovely ones out there.
Free2BU&Me -Check out The Yarn Harlots book Knitting Rules. It has very practical advice and patterns in it. I love her she is hysterically funny. Also another book that is very helpful for beginning knitters is Melanie Falicks Kids Knit. The instructions and pictures are great and easy to understand. She has simple patterns that are neat. A person could teach themself to knit with this book.
I have been knitting some washclothes out of organic cotton and french cotton terrycloth(BEAUTIFUL stuff)and am working on some socks made from Socks That Rock yarn in Moss Agate.I was knitting at the prison as I was standing in line and one of the ladies asked if I would make her some socks so I need to spin up some shetland fleece for those. I would like to make most of the Christmas presents this year. How many days till Christmas? Yikes!
Blessings,
Kay

I might give spinning a try. Thanks for the info. I never made socks before so I might try it. Wish me luck.

red, if you try an easy model to start with i'm sure you will be fine.a summer top at first, with no sleeves,to learn to increase and decrease. i have learned alone years ago and started with summer stuff.
