Default What is a COVID Furlough?

To clarify early release due to COVID, it is considered a furlough (temporary release) for those within 90 days of their earliest release date. They are NOT on parole at this time.

They will sign a contract explaining the rules of their furlough. If they disregard these rules, they will be sent back to prison and lose all good time. All temporary release programs work the same way.

The date of the computer will not change as they have not been "released". It will not say released until they hit their merit, CR, or Max out date. It will say temporary release.

This is very new for a lot of people.

That's confusing they aren't on parole but they have to report to parole the next day thing is he's getting released early again and he don't have a parole officer cause he maxes out in April he said the Dep of the facility asked him for an address in case he's a candidate for early release she told him it's not a guarantee but he thinks he's getting out the last time that happened he said he saw parole in the jail and got the papers

It's called a forlough because it is a leave. They are still technically owned by the prison until their release date. Nothing changes on the computer for that reason. They have to have an approved address. It is a way of depopulating the prisons with those about to go home.

Nothing is ever a guarantee, so you'll have to wait it out like the rest of us.

If granted, he will have to report until his April date.

So if he's selected to get out early then he will eventually see parole at Greene won't he like he did in Downstate just wasn't sure if all the prisons do the same thing pretty much for early release it sucks just not knowing

There is no control in any of this. They will do what they choose to do.

All prisons have the same protocol they have to follow.

You would know more about it than anyone since you guys went through it already. Not too many people were granted this type release.
