Default She's having vivid using dreams

Dreams that she can feel herself getting high.
This scares me because she's been clean for 10 years and not around that life. Now in jail she's around it all the time. I've never been an addict so I don't understand but it scares the hell out of me to think she could relapse

I was a drug user for twenty or so years, I every once in a while have extremely vivid drug using dreams generally I think it's an indication of a lot of stress. Don't know what kind of drugs but I've had dreams of doing drugs I never even did. Don't over think it and add more stress!!!

When you speak to her again reassure her that she's a strong recovering addict and she knows how to stay strong. Tell her that stress will bring on these nightmares. I hope ahe doesn't fall back into this lifestyle.

Thanks everyone for the advice,I really appreciate it. I've reminded her that she's a very strong person and she has the tools to cope with the triggers that are making her think this way. It's mostly that the other inmates that are currently using and talking about it 24/7.She has 4months left in jail and then she has 3 months in a rehab.

dreams of using are very very common.
I still have them once in a while for smoking ciggys. (I no longer do)
Literally feeling the smoke fill my lungs.
Yuck.
I hope she continues to stay sober.
Just let her know its her addiction trying to *talk* to her. Have her tell it to shut the hell up!
Sorry she is in a unit that has so many users who are currently using. Ug.

Thanks! I like that telling her addiction to shut the hell up! She'll get a kick out of that.

Hey,

This is something Dee gets now and then, and usually its when shes stressed or feeling pressured. Its not as bad now that she is home but happens now and then.

All you can really do....aside from re-emphasizing the great suggestions here, is be a Support and remind her of how well she has been doing living a sober life. Most importantly, emphasize that it is great that she trusts you enough to tell you about it.

Staying sober in prison is not an easy task at all. People with addictions tend to feed their addictions and some people go in sober and become addicts in there. If she can stay sober and utilize resources (going to meetings, maybe getting counseling if it is available to her) will help not only keep her sober but help keep her from going back to jail again in the future.

Hang in there.

I also had/have these. I can't remember the last one but when i was on paper they were always right before seeing my PO, which was not stressful cause it always went well, but for some reason my mind did it anyways. When i first got locked up it was an all the time thing. Im not sure if its just time that lessens them or not being around people talking about drugs all the time. They eventually slow down.
