During the last week in January my son went to the property clerk and said he had 2 books that had been delivered such and such a date. They asked if he had a slip from them. He said no but that his family had delivery receipts for it and that last time a book went back and he never got a slip. He finally got someone to look - yup both books were there at Whetstone. Everyone needs to follow up if they are getting things; it's the only way to keep them on their toes and get them to do their jobs

Yep 100%. My boy had to hassle them for a month to get them. Iím pretty sure if he hadnít been on their case they would have just sat at property for eternity lol.

It's getting ridiculous. I haven't heard from mine on over a month and have sent several letters. He always writes as soon as he gets my letters.

We had come to the conclusion that theyíre holding onto mail and sending a bunch out at a time. Incoming mail to the complex seems fine, but Ts get mega held up very often with multiple letters arriving the same day a lot of the time. He hit up the lady in his unit and she basically confirmed thatís what was happening. However, his valentines card has already arrived via snail mail. It only took 10 days all the way to NZ! Thatís a record lol. There is ZERO consistency with Lewis. However, thereís new rumours of tablets coming in May, apparently there was a town hall meeting about it. Iím not holding my breath because he said theyíve been saying it since 2017, but Iím still crossing my fingers!

Default Mail from Tucson ASPC

Outgoing mail doesn't seem to be a problem this month so far. The Valentine's Day card to me, and his grandmother's Birthday card all arrived the same week he mailed them.

I didn't send him a card because of all the mail problems. I plan to send him postcards while I am on vacation in March. He only got 1 of 2 that I sent last fall when on a weekend trip. This time, I am going to number them and keep track of when I send each one. I can't change anything about when or if he receives them, but I can provide him with a list of date sent, what the postcard was of, and he can go and ask about them particularly instead of just saying, "my mom sent me a postcard that I didn't get."

Anyone have any idea as to about how long an outgoing letter should typically take? Outgoing from Tucson facility to another part of Arizona [specifically Kingman area]?

Usually I get his letters relatively quickly. But lately it's been taking forever, it seems. So I figured I would ask if this is the new normal.

My guy called me today to see if I got the letter he had sent out Tuesday. It hasn't arrived yet. I told him let's give it a few more days before he goes off about it to anyone in there. He's really sensitive about how our mail is handled - always has been for 14-15 years now. He values all of our communication, but our letters are super important to him.

Thanks in advance!

My man is in Lewis but recently Lewis have been keeping all the mail and sending it all out on the same day. Last few times I’ve received several letters on the same day written days/weeks apart.

3 weeks and still waiting. For some reason they are holding and inspecting my LO's outgoing mail. I've had inspected mail before but not 6 in a row. Ridiculous!

There have been a lot of lock downs within Arizona, maybe that's why?

Ya its taking me 3-4 weeks to get mail from him. They are holding and inspecting it but really? How long does it take to open an envelope and see paper put it back tape it up and send it on it's way? Certainly not 3 weeks! I tell friends and family they holding the mail and they keep saying "no there not, that would be illegal " well no duh! Lady! I'm about ready to make a complaint with the Post Master general's office cuz this is BS

That is ridiculous.
Possibility they are holding mail cause that virus going on that some one mentioned on a Yuma thread.. Who knows.
Very irritating though.

Is there a number to call with a complaint?

They were holding the mail before the virus. And it's not just this yard. Look at all the complaints from around the state. Mail is federal so we would have to complain to the Post Master general. Before I do that I'm going to read up in the law. When I'm more informed I'll let you know where to direct your complaints

I was informed that we would have to prove the delay in mail. Like having the inmate send out a legal mail i.e. a letter to his lawyer. Those have to be documented. Or have our LO's write inmate letter complaining about the delays in mail. If we got enough inmate letters perhaps it would help. I know my LO is writing an inmate letter concerning this matter
