Grandkids are coming tomorrow for 3 days!! Their mom said they both got letters from their daddy yesterday and they were so excited to hear from him. I've not got a letter but so happy they did. I'm taking my granddaughter shopping for school clothes. She'll be starting kinder soon.

I'm so happy to hear that the grandkids each got letters. It sounds like your son is reaching out to them and that is a very good sign. Have fun shopping with your granddaughter - I raised only boys and often wished I could shop for those pretty, pink, frilly clothes! Maybe girls don't like clothes like that nowadays, but it would be fun anyway! Have a great 3 days!

deedee, I'm so very late to this post...I haven't been on line in a while.
I honestly don't even know where to start or what to say. I'm just so very sorry all this is happening to you and your family, my prayers are with you.
As you've found out, it is so very frustrating to get anything done with the prison system. It is even harder when your son isn't communicating very well right now. I'm guessing he is having a hard time himself processing all this, he probably doesn't realize what this is doing to you either.
With all you have been thru and going thru, I'm so very glad you found us. This place is my sanctuary...especially at first, when my son was first sentenced.

Eventually you will find out more and get to know the roaps...as your son will get to know the routine.

I do however want to make a comment. I only have 1 child and I lost him to prison for 15 yrs. I've often said I believe this was worse then death but I really didn't know. Here you are with twins....you lost one to a tumor then lost one to prison. When I read that you felt this was harder then your other boy passing away, that just affirmed what I had believed.
That is why many here will point out the stages of grief to new moms because the pain is so similar. What is so very sad is that no one will understand it "EVER" unless they are in the situation.

I will be checking back daily to your thread in hopes that you hear from your boy and things calm down a bit. I hate you are also having to deal with a stubborn teenager. Hang on to every good day that you have...let it get you thru to the next day.

We had a great weekend with the grandkids. We had a family & friends potluck dinner Sunday. It was nice to have everyone together. The kids had so much fun playing with all the kids & swimming. We got some school shopping done for my granddaughter, but not as much as I had planned. Had some other stuff going on with my oldest son. But all in all, it was great!

My 17 yr old stayed with my son for about 4 weeks. He gave her 2 warnings about following the rules. The 3rd time he said she couldn't stay. She seems to only be happy when she's running the streets with her friends. I'm so frustrated with her behavior. We don't usually hear from her until she wants/needs something. I have to just take a deep breathe and not let it get to me.

My iPad was taken from my house. I suspect it to be my 18 yr old son but I'm not sure. He has FAS and has a tough time with making good decisions. He's been talking about wanting a tattoo and I'm almost afraid that would be why he would take it. But I don't know for sure.

My 14 yr old daughter is leaving next week for New York. She is so excited. She's going with my best friend and her adopted daughter. Her daughter is going to meet some of her birth family for the first time. They have lots of fun stuff planned.

Yes the journey with my son in prison has been the worse. I can't even imagine how I'd ever survive it without my kids & grandkids. As crazy as life gets here sometimes, I thank God I have them all.

I got a letter today & visiting forms!!! He actually sounded like himself in this letter. It really made my day. Said when he got moved he some how lost the stamped envelopes I sent him. I sent him 10 more today. He also sent my younger son a letter. I filled out the visiting forms and put them right back in the mail.

That is the best news, deedee!! As soon as you are approved, the prison will notify your son. You won't hear anything fron the prison - it's up to your son to let you know that you are approved. As soon as you hear from him, YOU WILL GET TO VISIT!!! I know how long you've been waiting for that to happen and I'll hope and pray that you don't have to wait much longer. I"m very excited for you and I know that you are one happy mom tonight!

Yipee! I'm so happy to hear this. It shouldn't take too long to be approved. Glad to hear he sounds more like himself~ something helped along the way and praise the Lord for that.

I'm so glad you got a letter from your son, it does the heart good. I am praying everyday that you keep your spirits up and things get a bit better as time goes on. You have so much going on, please make sure to take time for yourself, K
