Default Your motivation to exercise?

Hello all,

Lately i've really been slacking on my exercise. I just cant seem to get motivated enough to get my butt in gear. When i get home from work i feel so blah and working out seems like another chore. I need some motivation!

I did zumba for a week straight and lost 5 pounds so i can do it, i just need to eliminate junk food and i know i could see results it just doing it that im finding hard lol.

For a while i was using thinspiration (looking at models who are a size 00) but i realized that wasnt healthy and did more damage then good considering after 3 workouts a week for two months didn't give me those results so i quit doing that. Now i cant find a way to motivate me enough to workout regularly. I know being healthy should be motivation enough but sadly its not.

What gets you guys up and exercising?

My motivation is my health- My cholesterol was *scary high* and my mom has a history of heart disease, so at 43, I was cruisin' for a heart attack.

I've lost 15 pounds and knocked my cholesterol numbers down into being merely "high" instead of making the lab techs question their results.... and, if I can knock 20 more points off my cholesterol, my doc says she'll stop trying to talk me into taking a drug that scares me silly.

"I don't want to die" is a great prod....but being back in my skinny jeans doesn't suck

You have to be a little patient- what you lose fast often comes back just as quickly- shoot for something doable and safe like around pound a week- setting drastic goals backfires because it sets you up to fail. Set makeable goals- Challenge yourself, certainly, but don't try to climb Everest.

I started with just 15 minutes a day with my Wii Fit and, as my endurance increased, moved up gradually to 30 minutes of mixed activity- yoga, strength and aerobics.

If you like the Zumba, then do that, oh, say 2 times a week and do something else on other days until you're fit enough that you need to increase activity to have it be challenging.

There are many days that I just don't want to work out but I make myself. If I slack on one of the days that I need to work out, it will get easier to just say forget it, I will do it tomorrow.
It's a mindset and I made a commitment to myself to get my self in shape. Since I have made my lifestyle change (eating healthy, taking vitamins, keeping my excersise routine in tact) I have had WAY more energy and a clearer mind. I set my goals in a acheivable manner. I have lost 18 pounds so far and have built quite a bit of muscle. I started at the beginning of April and I am so glad I did...I feel great and starting to look much better.
You can do it...you just have to set your mind to it and make sure you don't set the expectations too high or you will set yourself up for failure.

Hun, don't feel bad about slacking on your exercise....I am doing the same damn thing. I do really well for a week and then the next week, I have no fire under my ass to do anything besides work..lol

Mine is all about my mindset, if I tell myself all the positives about exercising, then I get motivated, if I justify being lazy, I end up being lazier...lol

I will get myself together, hopefully someday soon. I am not beating myself up about it, it just sucks how I can do good for a while and then, bam, I am slacking.

I know when the weather gets better, I will be more motivated...I know, I know thats like saying I am going to start eating better on Monday and what do I do, I go and buy a box of raspberry filled hostess donuts...yumm, my mouth is watering

Peace~
