Default Oregon DOC changing from TelMate to CenturyLink

Awesome news to find CenturyLink is taking over from Telmate and that utter joke of a company. Phone calls down to 9 cents a minute from 16. Video visits down to 5.88 instead of 7.50 per 30 minutes. They are putting in brand new phones too. Good riddance to a terrible setup.

Did you find this out from a news release, or from someone inside? I'd love to read more about it.

That sounds great! Do we have to do anything to make the transfer? I have a bit of money on my Getting Out account...

From inside. She got an email. They've already changed phones at CCCF. You can register on the CenturyLink website now. Pictures won't be transferred so if you have some, make sure to pull them off. You'll need to request a refund for getting out as they have no correlation. When you register they have a list of when each facility will transitioned over. It is a huge cost savings and I already can hear her 50x better.

Argggh. Been trying to register with that service and having nothing but problems.... And then my bank flagged the transaction as fraud... I hate these systems...

I have a few friends at different institutions and they are all getting switched out. I'm so happy for the price savings! Fingers crossed it turns out to be a great switch! Sad that all the pictures will be lost. Using up money as fast as I can at the moment. Looks like EOCI will start 6-11-2020

i hadn't registered a number for calls in years and thought the 9 cents/min was a lot ($2.70 for 30 min) when a 30 min call used to cost $1.75 with a local number. thanks for the reality check! also, wasn't thinking i no longer need a local number with the flat rate for anywhere in the US--that's a significant change from back in the day!
