Default Proxy marriage in Missouri?

We are in Missouri and would like to get married by proxy. Is this allowed in Missouri? Would the marriage still be recognized as legal? How do I go about it? What is it like? Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are hoping to do it soon. Thank you!

Sorry, proxy marriages are not legal in MO. You'd have to travel to CO, TX, or MT to get this done. CA also allows it, but I wanna say it's only for military there. If you did go and get this done in one of the states where it's legal, then yes, MO would have to recognize your marriage.

Thank you for the info! He doesn't have that much time left, so we were going to wait anyways, and have a nice little wedding after he comes home. Plus the proxy marriage sounds expensive too....and very unromantic

From what I gather, it doesn't look like it is something they do in Missouri. Although I did find a few sites that say Missouri does do it. You might want to call the prison chaplain just to be sure, though. TX would be the closest state and from what I've researched, Galveston is one of the easiest places to get married in, in Texas, especially when it comes to proxy marriages. You do have to wait 72 hours after getting the marriage license to get married. It also sounds like it could be expensive, especially if you have to travel to do it.....I was really hoping we could do it, but now we are just going to wait 'til he gets home, it will be cheaper and more special anyhow. :-)
