I have a BS in Speech/Language Pathology. Currently working on teaching credentials, and when my love is out I will be going off to grad school. It's nice to see that there are other educated women with men in prison...thanks, God Bless

Great post! I've got my BA in Business Management (cum laude honors) and I get this question all the time. "What are you doing with him? You deserve so much better?" etc...My mom, sister, and rest of the family cannot stand him, which makes things so much harder on me. I say it's my life and if I make bad decisions i'm the one who ultimately has to get the consequences also. They don't see the good side of him. Among other things, he's faithful, loveable, caring, many good attributes that aren't easily found.

I am one of 8 children an I am the only one to graduate high school an then graduate college, my sisters say I am crazy for being with him but like I have read in alot of the post, there is a side to them that our family an friends do not see. I was married before to a well educated man that abused me, Rhew has never so much as raised his voice to me...there isn't much of delima as to whom I would want to spend my life with.

I have a bachelors and am going back in the fall to complete a masters. I often do not go into detail about my relationship, because yes most people look at me like i am crazy. You have to do what is best for you. Its your life. If you are 100% sure that your man is a good man, and you want to stick with him, then do that. Friends, People, and family members may often try to get you to leave the person that you are in love with, while they stay in dead relationships with their own personal relationship problems. But look at reality and decide if staying is not only what you want to do, but if it is right for you. Good Luck Lady

I am working towards my Bacherlor's for Respiratory. Only a few more months and I have a career. I have many other certificates too along the way but what does it really matter right?

My parents are just the same as yours or many others. They tell me all the time to go find someone of the same stature? What does that really mean nowadays... My boyfriend is really kind, genuine, and most importantly he respects me. I tell them all the time that it's easy to find someone to love...but, to find someone that loves you unconditionally, that is the hard part.

So, I continue to be with him and support him through this rough time despite what they have to say. In the end it is your life that will be directly affected by the choices you make, not theirs.

Like the saying goes: "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

You have to stand up for what you believe in and make them believe it to.

Amen..I get the same reaction when people find out my man is in jail and everyone is so pessimistic about it. Saying he will never change, but I just got to brush it off.

But then again, to most people I know, being treated good by your man is defined as him buying you expensive things and taking you out to dinner and things like that. Personally, I can do without all that and he treats me just fine by being the sweet, loving, appreciative, respectful, romantic man that he is. Educated or not, he is who he is, and I love him for that.

I don't think our education has anything to do with who we date, regardless of the person being an inmate or not. i have my associates degree in criminal justice. i'm currently working on my bachelors degree in it, with a premajor in psychology, for i want to be a forensic psychologist when i grow up! lol.
anyways, i've dated guys before who have been in and out of jail/prison even when i didn't have a college degree. heck the reason why i got into criminal justice was due to a exboyfriend who was in/out of jail all the time when we were together!!!
you love who you love regardless of your education. thats just my belief.
