Default Hardship Transfer

Hello everyone and warm regards,

I'm new to PTO and PV. My son just transferred down to PV, but I'd like to get him closer to home and near his family as I'm sure we all want that for our loved ones.

My father has cancer and my son has the supporting documentation from the doctors. Does anyone know about a hardship transfer or is there such a privilege?
If so Id like to learn them to have my son begin the process.

The weird thing is his counselor gave him two choices, Solano or Mule Creek and he ends up at neither. What's up with that?!

Thank you much,

Mar Mar

They move them to facilities depending on what level they are or any special needs, with bed space. You can request a hardship transfer but they are hard to get as the system could care less. I have a loved one that was 5 hours away from home. there was a prison 45 minutes from home and his same security level. he had to wait for his yearly review before he could request the transfer even with documents of his father being in bad health. he got his transfer but still not where he wanted. It was closer(3hr drive) and his father passed away and he never got to see him again. good luck

I'm sorry it's always hard when we a have a member of our family ill. We indeed would love to have our LO's near us, however It's unfortunate CDCr doesn't see it that way. His best shot will be at his annual review.

Good luck and blessings to you and yours.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I can understand how the system could care less and that there are so many other inmates in the same situation with hardships. I'm just learning the ropes around here so I'm sure I'll be back with more questions if I don't find the answers in the threads. I realize the threads are a great avenue for help but I know things get buried so I may post a question someone has asked so please bear with me.

HHW, I'm sorry to hear about your loved one being so far away.
Nica, thanks for the heads up about the annual review.

Much appreciated!

Thank you,
