You won't be notified. They only notify the person incarcerated and they have to notify.

You dont get notified by doc if approved only inmates do you only get notified if denied - doc looks at it as the inmates job to let you know or for you to check.

Correction I'm sorry to say. Sorry because I'm NOT approved yet. My friend misunderstood the communication he received regarding my background check application in an update in his latest letter. At least he's out of Lewis and now at Safford which I understand is a way better place. I applied 12/27/2018 so hopefully I won't have to wait much longer.

My friend moved to Lewis about a month ago, and his cousin and our mutual friend applied, since lewis is way closer to them, and they both got approved within 2 weeks and have already had 2 visits with him.

This gives me a bit of hope! I just reapplied for visitation so I can fly over for a visit, were hoping this time its a bit quicker since Im already approved for phone calls. I want to book flights and accomodation ASAP so theyre not too expensive. Fingers crossed 😂

Just make sure you get refundable! That way in case they are put on lock down or something you can get your money back!

Yea I think Ill be at the very least be purchasing tickets that can be changed free of charge in case that happens. That way I can just move the booking to a later date. Well be applying for special visits too so we can get a few extra hours. I have all my fingers and toes crossed it goes smoothly but who knows with the azdoc right 😂

I applied online 12/27/2018. My friend was moved from Lewis to Safford/Tonto on 01/22/2019 and he wrote that Lewis hadn't even looked at my application. He called today using a one minute "courtesy" call provided by, I assume, IC Solutions and after the call you can set up an account. I was on my way out the door so I did it later but I called Safford visitation first to confirm that I was indeed approved and I am. So for me, four weeks for approval.

Update: when I first applied in September I applied for phone calls only, this took about 7 weeks to be approved.
I reapplied on January 16th for visits and phone calls and it was approved on January 30th, so exactly 2 weeks. Much quicker the second time around!
