Welcome to CRC,
I also visit facility 4. I have never witnessed any problems there. I was also suffering the trama of visiting at Salinas, when my son came to CRC. This was like going from hell to heaven. I have found the staff to be helpful and professional.
As you were told, visiting is open for all on Fridays. As long as they are disipline free and it is not their work day. On fridays, you can not check in between 3-5.
The visiting hotline will give you the CDC #'s each week for Saturday visits or Sunday visits. I can never go on Sun. since that is a work day for my son. So I usually go every other Sat. This week, I was not able to check in between 10-11. I don't know why yet, since it wasn't like that the last time I was there. I think sometimes they make up the rules as they go.
Take care.

Check in on Fridays starts @ 12:15. I beleive you are allowed $50, and I do not know the answer in regards to the facial piercings. Maybe someone else can help out here.

I also visit my friend on yard 4 and you can take in $30 - a combination of dollar bills and coins. They stop checking in from 10 to 11am on Saturday and Sunday and I was told this is because of the COs having to enter all the visitors information into the computers and they also need the time to complete paperwork. You can resume check in until 1pm and then they stop processing at that time. I haven't visited on Fridays but the weekends are nice. I used to visit my friend in Jamestown and CRC is so much more laid back and relaxed. The COs in visiting are really nice and respectful of you and I enjoy going to visit there. (as much as you can in a prison - LOL.) You can have 5 people visit at one time. A few weeks ago, my husband and I went in with my friend's parents, so there were 4 of us. His parents left early and he was able to stay to visit with us for the rest of the time. I don't know about the piercings though. I stay away from wearing blue jeans and the green color that the COs wear. I have worn khaki and they have let me in with that.

If it looks too much like tights (sheer) they may turn you around. Double-layerd is fine but it cant be a sleeveless tshirt with a hoodie that you might unzip or take off. No brown. No green. Black jeans are ok. Gray is iffy...I wouldnt take the chance. Best colors to wear are black, red, pink or purple. Make sure that your shirt isnt that mock short sleeve. If your sleeves are too short they'll make you change.

You can wear jewelry, watches, earrings, and surprisingly, sunglasses. Tattoos need to be covered or you risk getting sent back to change. Kids have to come with bc's of course.

When you come to visit, you'll get the option to sit inside or out. Whichever you pick, you have to stick with for the whole visit.

Best number for visiting is around 100 IMO. The early folks...1-99 are rotated out after about 1.5 hours to make room for the next group so being early kind of sucks.

On a Saturday, try to get there around....no later than 9AM. Visiting starts at 7:15AM. If you miss the first round of visits, you have to wait till 11AM for the next intake.

Also, no more than 5 people at a time and children can only go in with the legal guardian-no grandmas or aunts or uncles.

Fridays tend to be kinda light--good visiting day...same with Sundays.

FYI,
Children may visit with a relative, providing that they have a notarized statement from the custodial parent, and the birth cert. Just wanted to clear that up.

I wear black jean all the time and I have never had a problem. My daughter has worn a dark gray shirt and got in fine. No white shirts but you can wear white pants. Your shirt must have sleeves at least 2 inches long.

If your going on a Friday, you really don't need to get there early. Friday's are not that busy and you get a long visit.

Hope that helps. Have a great visit!

CRC actually sits in the middle of a residential area and is very easy to find. Everyone parks alongside the park on 5th street....just look for the line of cars.

nothingbuttruth,
Not to confuse you---but there are actually two facilities there. Most are housed in the general population facility. A smaller facility is "up the hill". Do you know which facility your brother is in? The reason I am bringing this to your attention is that parking etc, would be a little different.

Do you mean Dorm 108? If so, that is Facility 1. I don't believe there are any cells at CRC.

My husband might be transfering to CRC. He has been doing his time @ NKSP since 2006. When he transpacks to CRC do I have to do the whole visiting application thing? Or will I be able to visit right away?

Hopefully someone can answer my question?

Thanks in advance ladies.

I was told that once a visiting application is approved in California that it is good at all the CA prisons for 2 years....so you should be able to visit him right away.

I was approved in the summer of 2006, it's been over 2 years, so i guess most likely I will probably have to fill out another.

My husband was told yesterday that he will be transpaking to CRC in 60 -90 days the most. I will look forward to hopefully meet some of you ladies.
Thank you

Have him send you a new visiting application now and send it in, that way there will be no delays in your visiting when he is transferred because there will be a new approved application on file.
