Default Question on traveling to Corcoran via Amtrak

Hello, I am planning on taking the Amtrak to Corcoran this upcoming weekend from Los Angeles. I was wondering if its best to get tickets in advanced or its safe to buy them at the station? I never rode the train/bus so I would like to know. Do the trips usually get full?

Thank you!

Every time I have ever rode amtrak I call and reserve a shit ahead of time but don't pay until I get to the amtrak station the day I am leaving but many people do it all the day of the trip!

I would go online and buy the round trip ticket because at the station sometimes there are long lines, or the windows wont even be open during certain hours. and by buying online you can get discounts and guarantee that your seat will be available.

When leaving LA you do leave on an Amtrack bus, you know this right? That is why seats can be limited.

if you visit at Cor and travel with Amtrack, can you stay overnight in a motel and visit the next day and return by the Amtrack? I mean: will the Friends Outside actually help with the transport? Thanks!

Yes, lets say you visit Saturday friends outside will take you to motel of choice in corcoran and pick you up there in the morning to visit and take you back to train station after visit. You just have to have everything scheduled with them. They are really good about it.

I have traveled now via Amtrak three times round trip and it has been pretty good. I get picked up in my own town at 5:30 am and it travels to Long Beach and LA Union station to pick up then off to Bakersfield. We arrive at Bakersfield then jump on the actual train which is like 45 mins to Corcoran. When I arrive friends outside is waiting for me to take me to the prison. Since I am appt only I take the later route and arrive at Cor at 11:07 and its usually a set schedule. If I come back same day I get on the 3 pm train back to Bakersfield then LA again friends outside drops me off. Its not that cheap but its okay since am not driving round trip is $62 for me but I hear there are specials if you buy a package deal. So far so good and will be jumping on it this weekend =)

The good thing also if you have to change anything they are nice and can do it over the phone and send you a confirmation email which if you have a smart phone you open attachment and let conductor scan the bar code and its the same as having a paper ticket so I like how its convieniant.
