Question Change in medical /shut down ??

An inmate (one of my husband's friends) just said that they were changing procedures. He said that they're making it to where all the LVNs are gone and the psych techs are going to be giving out medication.
AND that if any inmate even gets a sprained ankle, they will go to the outside hospital - this sounds crazy! Does this mean that they might have been shut down or revoked Corcoran's medical department? I know they got an extremely poor Plata report last year, and the Feds are all over CA these days (as they should be). But it just seems kinda nuts to shut it down instead of FIXING IT...
But really the only two things he said was about the LVNs leaving and the inmates going to outside hospital for anything and everything.

Anyone hear anything?

I have not heard anything and my love takes medication every day due to a heart stent.
They did open a prison dedicated to health care needs of California's sick inmates and it was not full so perhaps Corcoran is seeking to shift some of the more ill inmates there?
I don't have any idea how that would affect shu inmates either.
I will have to write and ask if my guy has seen any changes.

Thanks. So far, this is just something I've heard was going to happen, not something that has already happened. Might have just been a rumor too, but still I'm curious.

Yes, LVNs will be gone and psych techs will be passing out meds. Even in the SHU. Why? Who knows...

So the psych techs will determine if an emergecy requires a trip to the hospital?
Not comforting

Here we go. I knew it sounded crazy.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...00+BSW20141216

"The California Association of Psychiatric Technicians is holding an informational meeting 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday, December 22, at the Corcoran YMCA Senior Center (900 Dairy Road) to address the union's protest of the drastically inadequate staffing changes at California State Prison-Corcoran and potentially other state prisons."
