Default How do I change my approved telephone number ASPC lewis

I am approved for calls to my friend at ASPC Lewis. I have had to change my telephone number and my friend isnt sure how we get it changed. Do I need to make a new application or can I write in? My friend thinks the procedure recently changed.

You need to write a letter to visitation and ask them to change the number.

Hi Maytayah,

No need to submit a new application. All you need to do is send a letter addressed to the specific unit visitation requesting to change your approved phone number. Here's an example I used back in October;

REQUEST TO CHANGE PHONE NUMBER
Tuesday, January 15, 2019

Attention:
ASPC - LEWIS - Insert Unit Name – Visitation
Insert Unit Address

From:
Your name
Mailing Address

Inmate:
Name
DOC #

Dear Visitation Staff:

Please change my existing approved phone number from XXX-XXX-XXXX to my new number XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

Thank you,

Your name

Like, legally changed the name due to marriage, divorce, adoption, etc?

For that you'll have to provide the documentation to them proving it (so, showing the marriage license)

Rule 911
1.7.2 Changes to an approved visitor’s address, telephone number, and/or name must be submitted in writing or electronically by the visitor.

I haven't found anything that says how or where it can be submitted electronically and people's experiences have been that they are all demanding it be mailed for telephone number changes so I expect the same for a name change.

The rules are loosey-goosey about too many things. The rule doesn't state what proof you need to provide, but whatever ID you use when you visit must match the name on your visitation file. So make sure you have your driver's license or whatever you are using updated with your new name first.

I will always recommend bring the proof of paperwork to the first visit after a change too, just in case. You are less likely to be turned away because of the difference if you can prove it right then and there.
