Default No heat in Florida dorms: Who do I contact?

Hi All, I was just told by my son at 5:45 pm that there is no heat in his dorm (and other parts of facility) at Liberty C.I., Florida. Snow and ice is expected and below freezing temps for the next two nights. He said they came to fix the heat today but said it could not be fixed. Isn't this mistreatment of humans to not provide some sort of alternative source? Who should be contacted about this since it is after business hours.

They know there is a problem and did attempt to fix it. Most likely they at least handed out extra blankets. I'm not sure that anyone can be reached after hours. I did find the following on the Florida DOC webpage:
  • Inquiries pertaining to the direct care, custody and supervision of an inmate, or facility operations, should be directed to the warden at the facility where the inmate is housed.
  • Concerns regarding offenders on probation, parole, or community supervision may be directed to the circuit administrator for the area of supervision.
  • For other general inquiries and concerns, call or email our office at: (850) 488-7052 or CO-CitzServMailbox@FDC.myflorida.com

Your in Florida. Perhaps you be thankful your son is not in Louisville or Nashville where temps have been below zero at night, struggling to the mid-upper 20's during the day:

I just found out they get gain time taken if they are under the blankets during business hours.

Email, don’t call, the Warden, the Regional office and the secretary’s office. You can find names here:

And email info here:

Here is the page to find out what region your LOs facility is in:

Look at the map and find the facility. See what region he’s in then click on the Region links and that will take you to the Regional page with all the facility links. Click on the facility and THAT will take you to the facility page where you can get the wardens email.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

They have never had heat. Florida is normally not as cold as it has been. My husband said it was so cold he would sleep in sweatshirt, sweatpants, socks and a wool cap. Thermal tops and thermal pants are available in commissary to wear under their clothes for warmth.
