Default Frontier Inn

Last weekend I went to visit my hubby. Usually I stay at Best Western INN Susanville but this time money was tight for us so I tried to stay at Frontier Inn. The lady was soo sweet and only charged me 47 but I should of looked at the room first. When I went in OMG I Cried it was bad so bad The light was falling off the wall there was no AC or bath and the sink was being held up by a stick. I couldn't stay there nope no way so I went and asked for my money back. She was really nice about it. After seeing the rooms my god I was MORE then happy to bit 30 more dollars and stay at Super 8.

also tried the apple inn. those rooms are old and very small, beds are hard like concrete, just shower, no bath. didn't like it at all.
also tried america inn, when you are alone, not the best rooms cramped and they charged me more than they did my friend.
all with all, i would prefer frontier inn above all others.
The rooms I've gotten at Apple Inn surely don't sound like the one you were in.But then again,I always get the same 2 rooms and they both have a bath tub w/shower,beds are actually very soft and I guess for 1 person it's coo to me,cheap and clean.

Default Budget Host/Frontier Inn

I would not recomend Budget Host/Frontier Inn to anyone! they over charged us from the price quoted, had no working ice machine, the lock on our door barely worked, all somebody had to do is push on the door & it would've opened easily. the room was very outdated, that i don't mind so much, but for the same price we could've stayed at a better place!

Is the motel 8 different than the super 8 or are they the same motel? I tried finding motel 8 online and could not find anything?! thanks

There's a super 8 and a motel 9. The motel 9 kind of looks like one of those motels that people live in. At least the one in S'ville does.

i live in the san gabriel valley 2 but there are 2 different ways just depends on what u feel more comfortable with

Route 1- take 210 w to the 5N to the 80 E towards RENO then onto the 395 toward Susanville

Route 2 -take 210 W to the 5N to the 99 Fwy toward bakersfield then to the 80 E towards Reno then onto the 395 toward Susanville

takes like 9 hrs if u drive faster than the speed limit. takes longer at speed limit.

I used to drive but since gas went up I started flying becuz it cost about the same & less time in the car

by the way welcome to the HDSP forum

You can also take the 210 E. to the 15 N.(Barstow) to the 395 N.(Adelanto) and take that all the way into Susanville. It is the faster route,8 hrs or a bit less depending on how you drive. The route is just so dayum boring, nothing but mountains and a few little towns that you go through.I wouldn't recommend that route for anyone driving alone. And also, when going through those small towns, the speed limit is like 25 mph and they mean just that, cause you will get pulled over with the quickness. But the towns are very small when driving through them, like less than 5 min.You also have to be very careful on speeding the hwy on this route, them HP's pop up out of nowhere.I use to go all the way around through Fresno,Sac and over the 80 into Reno, but I kept hearing about the 395 being alot faster and I found that to be true. But I have to agree with Nitesbabigirl, flying is the best way for those who aren't afraid of flying. If you book your flight waaay ahead of time, you'll get a good rate that would break about even or less on what you would spend on gas and a rental.

I agree with Tazz....we use to take the 15n to the 395..... less traffic.... but yes becareful with those roads especially during winter & highway patrol!! I would fly also, southwest airlines, if you book in advance it can be cheap

The Motel 9 is the one that I said earlier in this thread that I'd sleep in the WalMart Parking lot before I stayed there again- It is uptown, near the opposite end of Main from where SafeWay/WalMart/Etc are.

The Super 8 is very nice and almost right across the street from Jack in the Box on Main- right near the WalGreens.

I have only stayed at Super 8, and it was the best. The front desk clerks that I know of are Judy, and Brittany and are really really nice.

Default Car Rentals and credit checks

Hello everyone I am really stressing over this one and need some help. I am trying to reserve a rental but don't have a credit card only a debit card. I use to rent through advantage rent a car but just found out they closed their location in Reno. All other rental companies run your credit and will deny you for bad credit regardless if you have the funds in the bank. Do any of you know of any rental companies in Reno that will accept debit cards with no chaos? Thanks everyone.

I don't know if their in Reno. But I use Avis. They don't do credit checks and you can use a debit card if it's wired to your bank account but not a prepaid. But you have to have a 300$ deposit available on your debit card. Then they will take the 300 out like a debit and return the rest-your car rental within 7-10 days. HERE it only takes two days for them to give my money back but that could change but it hasn't happened YET. My overdraft protection also acts like my 300$. For example if I had a hundred dollars in the bank with my overdraft protection(300) I still have enough to go and the money is replaced before my bank charges the fees.

I use Avis & Enterprise & I don't have a credit card. They have never done a credit check either. I reserve on-line (never have picked up in Reno though) & when i got to the rental place they just asked me for 3 references & the first time they called my references to verify my address, Enterprise required a copy of a utility bill. Since the bills not in my name they actually called the company I work for to verify my employment. Like RG's girl stated they just take a deposit from my debit card, for me its always been $250 & return it once i return the car.

Also, when I rent cars I always google "coupon code for _____" (i enter which ever company i am planning to use) then i enter the code on the reservation page for the rental. I always get really good discounts!

Hey Sweetie,

I use to rent from national rental cars but the catch for me to use the debit card in reno was to fly in from l.a. I showed my ticket and I was able to use my debit card. They didnt hold 250-300 dollars but they only took the cost of the rental which for saturday returning sunday afternoon was about $60.00. I hope this helps.

Our family went to visit during the Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed Wednesday night at Country Inn for 95.00, which included a continental breakfast. Thursday and Friday night we stayed at peppermil casino in Reno for 70.00 a night. Of course the rates were higher because it was Thanksgiving weekend. We drove around in Susanville and I think Country Inn was most decent, but also most pricey

I strongly suggest that when booking flights, everyone try to go with tickets that can be rescheduled to avoid losing the full cost of the ticket in the event that a lockdown or a trip to AdSeg cancels contact visits.... Me, I'll make the trip even for the glass visits, but not everyone will.

lol... of all the times i've been to S'ville....i've never noticed it. I am going to look for it this weekend.

I always recommend Super 8, or River Inn if you wanna save a lil $. Or if you are by yourself, Apple Inn is small & quite, cheap & the lady @ the front is really sweet!
