Default Thinking of repainting the house.

I actually wanna repaint the house and remodel a couple rooms before my love come home. However im stuck on what colors i want the walls. Right now all the walls are a baby blue color. Im not sure what color would look nice, and refreshing. I want a diff color for each room. Would that be tacky? Any suggestions? I need some creative ideas! Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section btw.

A different color for each room is not tacky, it's actually really logical- A warm sandy tone in the bedroom creates a relaxing, soothing environment, a creamy ivory with bright accents in the kitchen sets a clean, vibrant tone.... a soft vanilla or pale earthtone in a bathroom lays the foundation for a "spa" feel... and so on.

My own theory on wall color is to keep it somewhat neutral and use curtains, throw pillows, bedding, art and other easily changeable elements to add more drama to the space. I've seen rooms done in bold wall color that looked amazing but if you want to update the room later, you have to repaint, too.

I just went through the color-choosing process and it involved visiting several stores and bringing home dozens of those little sample cards so I could see them in different places in the room at different times of the day and gradually eliminate those colors that looked great in natural light but did not work at all in artificial light and the seemingly neutral shades that somehow were exactly wrong when I looked at them flopped on my wood floors or clashed horribly with my sofa.... it takes time but it is a big decision, so it's worth it to go through the process.

I think you should play around with some other ideas too like accent walls, or even an accented ceiling while the rest of the walls are a neutral color. They even have wall stencils. I say, it's your house. Play around with it and find what you like.

I have a hallway going up the stairs that is painted a lovely sapphire/violet color, with a white crackle glaze over it . . . stunning! My living room is a warm cream, with one wall wall in deep rust - with turquoise accents in the curtains and pillows. Incidentally, I made the curtains out of cheap saris from eBay . . . the gold/silver embroidery is such an unexpected treat! One bathroom is gloss white with two slightly different deep blues on windows, door trim and shelves.

Play with colors - If it really doesn't work, you can always repaint!

If you go to a paint store and pick one color you like it can show you other colors that would go good with it. I still live at home but my mom and I are redoing the house and our living and dining room are seperate but very open to eachother. Well we did a deep purple/plum color for the dining room and a tan-ish color in the living room all with off white trim and it looks amazing.

Good luck!

I have recently repainted all my rooms.

My advice - most good paint stores and the big box hardware stores now provide pint sized samples for about $5.00 each. It is amazing how one shade lighter or darker can make a difference. You can paint small patches in different areas. I purchased a small touch up roller with a plastic tray and rolled well lit and darker parts of the room. I found the little color cards not true to color and a frankly kinda small.

A $5.00 investment in a few shades is well worth it.

When I owned my last mobile home (No, I am not trailer trash ha ha) I did a lot of remodeling. A lot of people don't realize that the interior walls of a mobile home are not weight bearing walls. So, I tore out a couple walls, tore down a half wall and made it a lot roomier.

Growing up we always lived in rental homes with white walls! I HATE white walls!!! In my mobile the only walls that were white was the hallway, only because it didn't get a lot of natural light. My kitchen & bedroom were mauve and white, my living and dining room were teal, my office/library was lavender and my bathroom was hunter green!

Like nypurple said, you can get samples for really cheap. I believe Walmart has some for about $2. Try them on the wall, they can always be painted over. Have fun!
