Question Does anyone know who the Chaplin is at the USP and how I can contact him or her?

My fiancé and I would like to get married in March 2011. I believe we need to get the Chaplin’s approval first .. Does anyone know if that is correct?

Also if anyone has any tips on what I need to do so he and I can get married, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks so much,
Kristi

It starts with his Unit Team and the Chaplain. The ultimate say though will be the Warden.

You have to write a letter to his caseworker stating that you would like to marry this man and why. Also included if you have or have not been married before. Once the casework recieves your letter requesting to be married they will verify if any previous marriages. The next step is the letter will be giving to the warden for his approval after the warden makes his decision. The letter is sent back to the caseworker and they will give it to the chaplin and a date will be set by the chaplin. Sometimes the chaplin may call you or send you a letter or contact is made to your man by the chaplin. As for me i did not recieve a letter i called the chaplin and the caseworker. My husband also went to the chaplin to find out the status and was giving a date. Most federal prison only does marriages twice a year. Congratulations and Good Luck.........

teyesbaby, gave excellent advice! You can always call up there and ask what you need to do and they will transfer you to the right person or have the fiancee go talk to the chaplain
