No strictly mainline. Salinas has a SNY. Level 3.

Nope. DVI is primarily a reception hub for northern Cali. It does have the dairy there (PIA) but those are GP inmates who work there.

Has anybody noticed that as soon as we figure out which yards are which, they change them again?? Or is it just me?

I swear dealing with CDCR is like playing the shell game. Where is the nut now? Give me a week and 10 phone calls and I will be able to tell you where it was last week. lol

LOL - not sure which ones you're referring to, but yes, dealing with the DOC can be an exercise in futility at times.

Well I have been staring at all the CDCR pages and statistics on the prisons. Most of them either don't say there is an SNY yard when people say there is, or they don't say they house that level when they actually do. I had no idea Mule had an SNY yard at all until I talked to my inmate fellows and they said who had what. One guy was told that SCC (Jamestown) has an SNY level 2 yard, which I am still unclear of, because it says nothing on the CDCR website.

I can help with both of these.

Mule Creek is an SNY Prison. There are some GP minimum level inmates on the support yard, but the main prison is ALL SNY.

SCC Jamestown has one Level 3 SNY yard (Tuolumne Yard). My hubby is endorsed there, we're just waiting for the bus ticket.

You can read in the SCC forum and the Mule Creek forum about the various yards.

Hope this helps.

Oh I have cruised the forums and searched until my eyes are crossed. It just kills me that CDCR can't take the time to update their websites.

Besides when I go searching through ALL the forums in here I have a tendency to get lost and start reading about other things. lol

This truly is a fantastic place for information. I don't think I could deal with all their questions and them doing time without the people on here.

I hear Mule Creek has a list of people waiting to get in. I wonder how long it will take for him to be able to get in there. . . . if they let him go there?

I feel you - really I do! If it wasn't for PTO.....

Mule Creek is very difficult to get into. We've been trying for years. All he can do is request it and see what happens. I'm not sure they have Level 2 SNY though. I know they have a Level 4 and 2 different Level 3 yards. Not sure about Level 2.

Here is the best thing you can do if you have narrowed your choices down - so it's fewer calls - call the PIO at each institution you're considering and ask him/her what level SNY they have. I know we shouldn't have to - the CDCr site should be up-to-date, but it isn't, so.....

Will I actually get an answer? I know i'm not calling for personal information, but so far I can't even get any of them to answer their phones.

He needs to be near his family which is in Modesto because his mother can't drive to visit. There are only 3 prisons close enough, 2 of them have SNY. He may have to do a point override to stay at level 3 and transfer anyway.

I have been dealing with prison issues for years, but at least since I found PTO the answers are easier to find and I don't feel quite so alone in this mess.

Well, it may take a few calls - and be sure to leave your contact number. I know the PIO's at some prisons and they WILL call back or respond to my emails.

You can also try the ombudspersons. I'm just trying to give you some options, hon.

Yes I know it's GREATLY appreciated and thank you for it. You have been very helpful. I am just going in so many directions and every time I come up with an answer he seems to add another twist to the question. LOL

He's going to stay in Avenal for now I guess, until he can possibly transfer to Mule Creek. Meanwhile i'll keep calling Mule creek and see if they have a level 2 yard.

We're starting to repeat ourselves, so let's post the list again and add to it from here.

ASP II
CAL I, IV
CCI I, II
COR III
CRC II
CVSP II
HDSP III, IV
CVSP III
MCSP,III, IV
PVSP II, III, IV
RJD II, IV
SATF II, III, IV
SCC III
SVSP III, IV
KVSP III, IV
ISP III
CMC III

That's what I got from a quick scan of the thread, so let's see if we can get it narrowed even farther if need be.

Has anyone heard from your men saying that they are removing all bunks from the SNY yards and transferring them out to prisons that do not have an SNY yard? And is it true some maybe transferred out of state?
Can anyone give me any information? It is mostly level 3's . . . Thanks

Thank you QWERTY for clearity on this thread and SNY. My man's in Tehachapi on Level II, SNY! It is what it is SPECIAL NEEDS YARD, and can carry a variety of inmates, that just require a little more security from mainline, or their points have been lowered. I've been told there can even be lifer's in SNY, due to low points.

It's too bad SLO Men's Colony does not have a level 2 SNY. :-( Now instead of driving 1 hour to see my husband I will have to drive 3 hours either to Tehachapi or Kern. :-( Boooo!

You mean just those in gym settings, right? I haven't heard that, but they cannot house SNY Inmates on GP yards, so you don't have to worry about that.

Out of state is a possibility though. SNY are eligible for out of state transfers.

There are TONS of lifers on SNY. MY husband is one of them.

SNY - SENSITIVE needs yard, not special needs.
