Can a former inmate from another state correspond by mail with a TX inmate?
Howdy folks. I am submitting this thread in regards to a question I have concerning correspondence with Texas state prison inmates. My question is can a former inmate from another state correspond by mail with an inmate housed in a Texas state prison? I myself served time in prison in California. This was more than 10 years ago and I am not on parole or probation. I have a friend in prison in Texas that I would like to write to him. Will I have any issues trying to send a hand written letter? If anybody knows anything about this please respond. Thank you all so much. Happy trails.
My husband is in TDC and has a cousin that just got of paper here in TX. They write and visit, however we were honest on tbe visit list and told then he had served time with the agency. If the correspondence is on the up, you should not have problems. Good Luck
They don't have time to look up everyone who writes someone to see if they have a criminal record. I would assume that if you don't have a NCO or the inmate hasn't put you on his no mail list you will be fine.
I've never heard of them having a problem with that. The biggest thing they don't want is offender to offender unless the offenders are related. I write my bff and I was a two time offender and have never had a problems!
