Default Federal Prisoners Set Free by President Obama / Updated

Quote:
President Obama has commuted the sentences of 111 federal inmates convicted of drug offenses, the White House announced today, bringing his total number of commutations to 673.

President Obama has now cut the federal sentences of more men and woman than the last 10 presidents combined, and the most since President Calvin Coolidge.

You should be thanking Obama and this doesn't even tough the hundreds of thousands of people in state prison who are locked up on drug and drug conspiracy charges.

Has your man submitted his clemency paperwork yet?

The president can't consider it unless he applies. Make sure he gets on it, because there will probably be a lot more last minute commutations and pardons before Obama leaves office here in a few months...

He is just now getting to the transfer facility... It's not fair though how his charge was a set up for some snitch to get time off. I don't know if he's eligible and if so can someone do it for him or can I submit it

I'm pretty sure he needs to submit it himself. Once he gets to his final destination facility, his case worker or counselor should be able to get him the form.

It is a long shot, but couldn't hurt to try. Even if he isn't released right away, he might still be able to get his sentence commuted (reduced) so that he may be able to get out sooner than his original sentence dictates.

President Obama Grants 153 Commutations and 78 Pardons to Individuals Deserving of a Second Chance

Today, President Obama granted clemency to 231 deserving individuals — the most individual acts of clemency granted in a single day by any president in this nation’s history. With today’s 153 commutations, the President has now commuted the sentences of 1,176 individuals, including 395 life sentences. The President also granted pardons to 78 individuals, bringing his total number of pardons to 148. Today’s acts of clemency — and the mercy the President has shown his 1,324 clemency recipients — exemplify his belief that America is a nation of second chances.

I just read this. Holy cow. I know her experience in prison has been rough, but I wonder what kind of security risks she faces now?

And yet some who are actually deserving of clemency like Leonard Peltier remain lacking in a clemency grant...ditto for others who leaked 'secrets' that were not military in nature.

Apparently you can leak military secrets but if you are going to cost the government a whole lot of money on trumped up medical claims, you become a prime candidate for an early release...now Manning gets out and has to fund his fetish on his own since he won't have VA benefits either.

I've sign numerous petitions on behalf of Leonard Peltier and I'm pretty disappointed he wasn't granted clemency or pardoned

Same here - but the FBI is insane about his case, and will probably quit en mass if he's ever granted clemency.

So happy for the families that got pardoned by Obama. Forgiveness is the best gift one can ever grant to your brother (and yourself).

Manning was released today and is appealing the court-martial decision. This means she will be on inactive duty, unpaid but able to access VA benefits to treat gender dysphoria (not a fetish) However...

"Because of the nature of her circumstances and the experience of confinement, she is very committed to living her life as free from the government as possible and taking care of her own health benefits and financial needs, separate and apart from the continued benefits available to her," the lawyer said."
