My fiance is also at Coleman 2, unfortunately I'm not able to visit him, but hopefully another member on here will have answers to your questions I have gone to visit him at a different federal prison (USP Canaan) and it really wasn't that bad. I hope you get to visit soon!
Hello, I will be visiting USP Canaan very soon. Can you suggest any nice hotels in the area? What is the visiting process? Do you have to arrive early to get a number etc

Since I only live about 3 hours from Canaan, I would just drive when I went to visit there, but depending on your budget, I know there are a few hotels in the surrounding area of Waymart, such as a Comfort Inn in Lake Ariel, PA which I remember passing on my drive. I would also check what is available in Scranton, PA.
I would suggest arriving at 8am, there will be some waiting, but you want to make sure you get in before they do the 10am count on weekends, because then you would have to wait till almost 11am to get processed. Friday visits are normally less crowded and there is no 10am count. The visiting process itself is rather simple, just follow the dress code and you will be good to go. I have gone to Canaan 6 different times to visit and never had any issues. Just make sure you call ahead to see if they are on LockDown, and during the winter they do sometimes cancel visits due to the weather.

Okay awesome. How is the visiting room set up? Do they have tables where you have to sit across from one another? Or can you sit by one another? Is the visiting room kid friendly?

They stop letting visitors in from 9-11 now for count I stay in Dunmore, Clark’s Summit or Wilkes-Barre, but any of the surrounding areas are nice. You park in a numbered stall outside and they have lockers in the lobby. Like Lolo said, if you follow the dress code you won’t have any problems. They are pretty strict on the no open mouth kissing, no inappropriate touching rules and they will terminate your visit for it. You can wear a jacket to the visiting room, but they make you hang it up on the wall, so I try to dress knowing I won’t have a coat on all day.

Still awaiting a letter from my husband who’s in holding/transit at CANAAN. I’ve wrote many including he is allowed 2 free stamps but still no reply which is not like him Has anybody went through this?
I’m not sure how long he has been there. It is not unusual for my mail to take 7-10 days to reach me. That is mail from an inmate regularly housed at that facility. If he is in holding in any disciplinary housing, he will need to request stamps from someone (I’m not sure from whom, maybe his counselor?). So he may not get the stamps until he sees his counselor next. Just keep writing. He will write you when he can.

Whenever I didn't have access to the commissary to buy stamps while at a temporary stop, including Oklahoma City, the counselor had everyone line up on one day of the week. The counselor then put the stamps on each unsealed envelope and entered it in the outgoing (aka monitored) mail. The mail room sent them out when they got around to doing it.

Ok- no problem. When you are in the visiting room, you sit 4 feet across from each other. There is a small end table that is next to you. No table in between. No touching is allowed during the visit. You are permitted a closed mouth kiss and hug at the beginning and end of the visit. There is a kid room but I wouldn’t say it’s kid friendly. You have to ask for it to be open & ask for the tv to be turned on. There isn’t much in the way of toys for the kids.
