Default Anyone else affected by the D-Yard move?

Anyone else affected by the D-Yard move?

They shuffled a good number of folks around this past weekend and my guy was moved to another building. We haven't had a chance to talk, but I was wondering what the reason was.

**Sorry mods, should have put a more specific thread title. Not sure how to edit. Thanks!**

Hello. My husband will arrive at KVSP on Tuesday 09/23/14 from CSP Solano. Level IV. Please let me know which yards house general population level 4 inmates and if orientation inmate visit appointments can be made using vpass. I understand from reading the threads orientation can last 10-14 days but unpredictable. I just want to visit him as soon as possible. thank you. One more question, are visits terminated frequently at KVSP due to overcrowding?

A and B yards house general pop. Not sure how long it takes for u to make appt.for him but if your already signed up on Vpass I would make appts. That way on Sundays at 8 instead of calling. But u may have to call for now since he is new if they allow visits.

A and B are general population. Yes, Vpass can be used even when they are in orientation. Walk-in line up starts at 10AM. Yes, especially when all races are off lockdown, visits get terminated for overcrowding. First in, first out. Usually about 3 hour long visits on a bad day. They try to double up couples.

Default Newbie Questions

So my sweetie has arrived at Kern and I received my first letter from him yesterday. Evidently he is in orientation, any clue how long that can/does last?

Also, now that he is there they are saying he has an "enemy/victim" on the same yard... who knows what that means since he has been in the SHU for a LONG time. from my understanding, it appears that there are lot's of yards there so they can just move him to another yard, right?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what current times are in orientation. If he's coming from another facility (from SHU to main) it might only be a few weeks.

There are really only two yards-- A and B for mainline and C and D for SNY. Typically they do a check of who's housed on a yard before they place them so they don't have conflicts. Sounds like they missed that part. :/ Hopefully he'll have his housing settled soon and you can plan a visit!

Yeah, especially if there are only two options and if one is now 'a problem'. I guess I thought there were multiple yards because there are so many different housing areas.

Is it bad for me to hope they will have to move him again (like to CSP-SAC or High Desert???)

Hoping to get down for that contact visit ASAP, lol!

Sometimes they will let them use the phone in 3 days after they transfer. It all depends.

Default Boyfriend transferred to KVSP, what happens next?

So my boyfriend just left reception and is now at KVSP and just wondering how long orientation is and when I should expect a call. Talked to his counselor and they just told me he can't call until after orientation but forgot to ask how long it was 😞 So if anyone could let me know that'd be great 😁

Do you mean orientation? Reception is the facility he would have spent time in while they figured out his classification.

Usually orientation is about two weeks, sometimes less. They can use the phone when they are off orientation.

As for the gang question, I'm sure your son is just fine. There are gang members in every prison and at every level. Very few of them will be interested in causing an issue of for your son if he doesn't give them a reason to.

I think A&B are general population , C is an SNY yard and D is SHU housing but I could be wrong. I am sure someone can verify.

Default Which facility are SNY inmates housed in?

Hey all! My boyfriend just got transferred to Kern Valley and I'm wondering which facility the SNY inmates are housed in there. I'm trying to write him a letter but you have to put which facility (B, C, D...). Any info would be helpful! Thank you!!

C and D yard are SNY.

If you're wanting it for letter writing, it's best to call the facility and verify his housing through records.

Or the mailroom. They're usually very helpful in providing info.

Hi all,

Does anyone have knowledge of how the Transitional Housing Unit is at Kern Valley? I haven't heard from my loved one in a couple of weeks (he just transferred there and he will be there for 6 months before going to a SNY yard) and I'm worried about his safety. He seemed concerned last time he wrote. Has anyone else's loved one been there and how is it safety-wise? What were/are their experiences? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks!!

it can take a few weeks to hear from him, upon arrival. THU shouldn't be a big safety concern, I mean it's still prison but every body there is pretty much in the same boat. while I know he may have been told 6 months. that's not set in stone, so prepare yourself if it takes a bit longer. be patient you should hear something soon
