Hi Ladies I hope you are all getting ready to have a great weekend either its visiting your loved one or enjoying the memorial 3 day weekend. As I get closer to next weekend Im trying to get things together since its my first visit there and so Im not rushing last minute.
-First thing I could really use a suggestion… I will be staying down there for the weekend can any of you recommend a hotel/motel. Doesn't need to be some fancy place. Just a clean place with a decent rate.

-Second clothing I know the basic since we've been doing this for a while now but I wanted to ask as any of you ladies worn one of those lose fitting one piece jumpsuits and gotten in. Im trying to find at least something decent to wear. Regarding piercing Ive gotten in to the other prisons with my belly ring and dermal still in (no issue with the metal detector). I mean it was 2 years ago so maybe their sensitivity has increased.

-Third my appointment are at 930 & 10 around what time should I arrive?

-And last Im confused about this ION Scanning thing. This is new to me. Im not worried because I don't type of illegal narcotics and Im sure thats what they are looking for but I do take prescription medication (all of which are prescribed to me) including pain meds so would that show up? Has anyone had to bring a prescription medication with them to the visit for health reasons? What is the protocol for that?

Any ladies traveling from northern california bay area or surrounding areas and ever interested in carpooling/sharing room cost always open to do that. Always great when we can help each other out when these visits can be rather costly.
Thank you and happy weekend!

In Delano there are really only three options, Best Western, Holiday Inn and Rodeway (am I missing any?). I've stayed at the first two and been perfectly happy at either. Expect to pay between $75 and $90 at those locations. Rodeway is a little less, I believe, and from what I hear also fine.

I've seen jumpsuits, so I think it's ok. Maybe someone else can comment on that. The piercings...whew. Gotta tell you, I'd be uneasy. I know if they know about it has to come out, but if it's hidden and you get through then...yippee! The detector is calibrated every once in a while and can be pretty touchy.

-Third my appointment are at 930 & 10 around what time should I arrive?
8:30 and 9. There will be a line formed at the door and just ask the last person in line what time their appt. is. That'll tell you where to stand.

If you take opiate pain meds do yourself a favor and get a note from your doctor. You can keep it in your car in case you need it. Be aware that it needs to be signed by your physician, not just a printout of meds.

Thank you and happy weekend!
Enjoy your visit!

These are the two I used. I never had a problem with Roadway Inn, clean room after a long day and the price is right. They have continental breakfast (waffles and pastryís) in the morning. I stayed there most of the time but when I had the extra money I would stay at Best Western. Defiantly a lot nicer and Dennyís is right in front. You get 10% off at Dennyís if you show you room key from Best Western or Roadway. If you sign up to Choice Privileges and book on line for Roadway you get points and after a few visits you get a free stay. Any little helps. Hope this help you a little and hope you have an amazing visit.

You can call to get an appt. Mon-Fri between 7-8am and 12-1pm. The phone lines can be very, very busy so keep trying.

Provided his yard isn't on lockdown, you should be able to get in. I've not done a walk-in but they are available. If it's a super busy day they'll terminate early arrivals so that walk-ins can get some time.

The phone is likely to be super busy tomorrow so don't feel bad if you don't get through. Just keep tryin'! Happy visiting!

Don't give up hope! I was in your same position. I live 5-5 1/2 hours away and had no luck with VPass. I felt defeated! These ladies told me to try the phone in the morning but also gave me the heads up that it was going to be a pain in the ass. Start calling right at 7 and keep calling until you talk to someone. I had to make a appointment for both saturday and sunday so they made me call back at 12pm for the sunday visit. Lets just say at 7am it took me 45 minutes around 175 calls to get through and at 12pm 35 minutes and 130 call to get through. Its possible and personally if your coming that far I think its better to get a appointment because with walk ins you never no. They can send you through walk ins at 130 and visiting ends at 3.

Hey ladies, I'm visiting this weekend without an appt. I hear that a line forms at 5 am outside the prison for the ones without appts. Is this right? Also is their a chance i won't be able to get in? What's the process? Thank you soooo much

No...they won't even let you on the grounds until an hour before, so get that extra sleep.

Walk-ins start at 11 and I know it can take a minute to get to the yard. I've not done a walk-in so maybe someone else can give you a rundown on the process.

Best of luck and enjoy your visit!

You're good. They've relaxed on shoes, they can be open in the back now, open-toed is fine. Just nothing that looks like a shower shoe or has a thin, foam sole (like cheaper flip-flops).
