Default No word from Fort Dix Camp? 2/5/18

My husband is at the camp at FT DIx. Haven’t heard from him in three days. Highly unusual for him. No real information given by calling the number, they suggest I write him... like a week to two later is good enough to find out something! Anyway, anyone have anyone in the camp that they’ve heard from since Friday 2/2/18?

Welcome to Prison Talk. It sounds like either a lockdown, or broken phones. I hope that someone who knows will answer you.

One way to sometimes find out if there is a lockdown is to call and ask if visitation is open. Many bop prisons won't admit to a lockdown, but if visitation is closed, it is one.

What if you call and they say he is restricted but they don't give any other information? Would that mean a lockdown or SHU.

It could be either, but I would expect a different answer if it was a general lockdown.

There are different levels of restriction too. He might have lost his phone & email access without necessarily being sent to the SHU, but he might have lost his ability to contact you, except through the mail, because he is in the SHU. To find the answer, he will have to be the one who tells you because the prison won't.

If you ask them if he can receive visitors, and on what days, you can tell if he is in the SHU or not. SHU visits are only from 12:00 to 3:00 PM on Monday, while the regular visiting hours for everyone else are 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Fri, Sat, & Sun and from 8:30 AM to Noon on Monday.

Thank you. That's the thing I called and asked if he can have vistors because I said I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks which is not the norm and they said no, he is being restricted.

He apparently lost his visitation privileges too. SHU prisoners can have visits, unless they are restricted as an additional punishment. With everything he lost, my guess is that he is in the SHU. Sometimes his counselor, or the prison Chaplain will do a "welfare check" if you request one.

Thanks for your help. I don't know they did that.
