Default Getaround / Car Rental Service

So I just found out about GetAround where essentially people loan out their cars sort of like a car rental and Uber hybrid. Has anyone tried it? I'm thinking of using it to visit my guy upstate but I wanted to get some reviews first lol.

Never tried the company out before. But your best bet is to search for reviews on the service in your area. To see what others are saying about the experiences of using the service. I was thinking about using them when I go to Cali. But I'm not sure..I'll probably just rent me a car at the airport to get around and take it back before catching my flight back out of Cali.

If you have a license, it may be cheaper and safer to rent a car from a reputable company. They have to maintain their cars plus you can get insurance for the trip.

I drive 6 1/2 hours but it is on the opposite side of the state. I did the 8 hr trip to Lakeview, which was really long. Willard is closer to the city.

I would recommend at least one night in a hotel if you can afford it.

I think I would need to read reviews and look into the legal side before renting someones private vehicle. Are the vehicles safety checked? What insurances are offered what is your liability regarding any collision or other damage? What happens if the vehicle breaks down is roadside recovery offered? Are there valeting fees? Are there fees or penalties if you return the vehicle late?
personally I think I would choose an established car rental company.

Thanks everyone. I ended up going with a regular rental service. Too many unknowns with this one and I got a pretty decent deal.
